About The Bright Path

"The Bright Path" is an educational game, which provides interactive experience to learn more about the topics of drug abuse, drug addiction, dangerous societal phenomena and active citizenship in an interactive, entertaining and immersive way. We recommend to follow-up with a reflection activity to discuss the choices you made during the game. The game is mainly intended for teenagers and young adults who do not have a deep knowledge about the dangers of drug abuse and addictions and it helps them to raise their awareness about the situations which may lead to addiction and the dangers which come with using addictive substances. The game is not intended for education of professionals in the field or university students who are experts on the subject. The game was created in collaboration with local teenagers and young adults in our community. You play as a young man called Rasmus, who is a  volunteer in a fictional city called „Sobercity“, which is plagued by drug abuse, drug addiction and other dangerous societal phenomena. Your goal is to roam through the city and discover local citizens, who are facing various challenges and to help them or not, but remember every choice you make counts towards shaping the fate of the city !The game offers the following features and content:
  • open world/sandbox mechanics
  • play time of around 45 minutes
  • meeting NPCs, helping them with their quests and challenges
  • collecting collectible items such as podcasts, journals and other items
  • discover 3 different endings based on the actions you take during the game
  • adventure/exploration gameplay
  • learning more about the dangers of drug abuse and active citizenship in a fun way

Funded by the European Union, Silesian Society for Solidarity's The Bright Path attempts to combat addiction and drug use and educate its audience in matters of empathy and recovery. While an extremely noble purpose, the game is horrible in every respect. A horribly ugly Unreal Engine 5 asset flip that still struggles to run at 50 FPS on a PC far more powerful than its hardware requirements, the game has a downright comical graphical presentation. Filled with Metahumans who emote like an old Garry's Mod meme video and a script that is as trite and unbelievable as possible, I feel like The Bright Path's educational purposes are very limited. Combine that with its general instability, with hair and beards regularly floating off of characters, I would be fairly ashamed to show this to any prospective students. Could this even run on school computers? Are they all just Chromebooks now?

kinda nice game, lil woke, but in general has good message - to avoid narcotics. It unfortunitly doesnt have no achievments on Steam and it crushed on me once.. when gangster got me. After restart i was able to continue with all items and some missions being replenisshed so i could collect or do them twice and go beyound the counter limits. I liked it visually.. its kinda realistic, and models are detailed. I liked how wide and acurate charaters were opening their mouths while talking, so lipsynch was very good.. sometimes exaggerated, bot this was looking better than most games minimal mimmics.. minimalistic lipsynch. I senced ai voices too, but thats ok.. it sounded decent for me. I spent fun time playing this, but achievment hunting wouldve made it even more fun. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3487896381 https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3487896465 https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3487896597

i enjoyed the game, especially the more cinematic approach which is unseen in a lot of indie games, together with the topic and its focus on education I definitely wouldn't mind more of those these days
