8Bit Fiesta: The Drinking Game is a free local party game built around a collection of short mini games. I can play alone, but the main idea is clearly sitting down with other people and competing on the same screen. There are different types of games including platforming, racing and sports, so I am constantly switching between different challenges instead of playing one long mode. The biggest strength for me is how easy it is to pick up. The mini games are simple enough that I can understand what I am supposed to do pretty quickly, which is exactly what I want from a party game. I do not need to spend ages learning complicated controls before getting into a match. I also like the old school 8 bit presentation. Everything has that colourful pixel art style, and the different characters can be customised with various outfits and looks. It gives the game a lot of personality without needing detailed graphics, and the silly presentation fits the chaotic nature of the mini games. The built in drinking game is an interesting extra too. The game can track who loses rounds and assign drinking penalties, so it is designed to work alongside an actual party rather than just being a norma…
