About A City Sleeps™
A City Sleeps follows Poe, the youngest member of The Silk, an ancient clan of dream exorcists that can enter the minds of sleeping hosts to rid their dreams of demons. When the residents of SanLo fall into an endless slumber, only Poe can rescue them from a never-ending nightmare. Equipped with her legendary Koto-sword “Heartstrings”, and flanked by her stable of powerful ghost familiars, she must cleanse their dreams, and uncover the city’s dark secrets.
Driven by an unforgettable original soundtrack that builds through player actions and enemy engagement, A City Sleeps infuses classic twin-stick hardcore shoot ‘em up sensibilities with moment-to-moment tactical choices.

This unique rhythm-shooter hybrid from Harmonix receives praise for its innovative concept blending music-based gameplay with shoot-em-up mechanics, distinctive art style, and excellent soundtrack, but is plagued by persistent technical issues including unreliable controller support and character freezing bugs that can cause sudden deaths during gameplay. Players are divided between those who find it a charming hidden gem with heart and potential, and those frustrated by clunky controls and gameplay that feels sluggish compared to traditional shmup standards. This game made me develop a photosensitive disorder
I don't know for how long this game has been in my library. I was holding back playing it because I thought it wouldn't work with controller... but it's working without any problems. And I just noticed that this game is by Harmonix, my favorite game studio. This might take a stage to get used to but at the end of the first stage you will understand that this game is actually a very cool and unique combination of music based gameplay and shoot em up.
i love this sh*tty game so damn much, all the text and dialog makes you groan, the art is so deviantart but it sets such a perfect atmosphere for the tone of the game, the controls are...there sometimes, the music is CRAZY good, it's so full of heart, ever since i was a kid harmonix was always the coolest studio to me and stuff like this is totally why, there is so much potential here and they have just always struggled to find an audience. this game is so unique not just as a rhythm game but as a shooter, the totem system is such a sick idea and adds tactics to a genre that's quite devoid of that kind of thing, it's just such a beautiful hidden diamond ore that needs the right person to love it to shine. i think you should buy it. thank you
The game has a decent concept and a soundtrack that turns out really nice. The problem is in terms of shmup games it does that very poorly. It feels like you're flying around in a flash game and shooting being tied to the audio just means there are times youre just doing nothing.
