About City of Beats
Music is everywhere in the City of Beats and drives absolutely everything in this rogue-lite, twin-stick shooter. Listen to the beat, get into the flow, and unleash bullet hell on the rooftops of the City, blasting through legions of hostile robots.
Don't worry about the damage. Humans left a while ago, and it's just us androids up here. Well, androids and robots, controlled by an ornery rogue A.I., the Zeitgeber, trying to impose its own groove on all robo-kind. Someone should do us all a favor and get out there to pull the plug, yeah?
Everything's driven by music. Literally everything. Weapons, enemies, environmental hazards, it all grooves to the underlying beat.
Listen to the music to anticipate attacks, time dodges, and avoid traps - also knowing when to fire, use special skills, and unleash charged super attacks.
Master the flow of the beat and dance atop skyscrapers to become unstoppable.
Embark on endless expeditions across procedurally generated maps. No two playthroughs are the same, meaning different enemies, encounters, and upgrades each and every time.
Experiment with different builds during each run. What will the beat bring tonight? Damage modifiers? Shield boosts? Quirky mutators that can completely alter the flow of combat? Only the music knows!
Make an orchestra of funky friends. Rogue repair-bots down on their luck! Surprisingly honest merchants! Shady robotic bonesaws looking to take some of your juice in exchange for illicit upgrades! The beat brings together all walks of synthetic life.
You only get one life, but fret not, destruction is only an inconvenience for an android.
Back in the hub, upgrade core traits, buy new weapons and equip extensions, and make sure to stretch before getting ready for another dance number.

A neat topdown shooter synced to music, with parts of it generated as you play. A fun game, its progression designed in the vein of Slay the Spire and similar roguelite games, with a non-serious plot you are permitted to ignore, filled with... a very german sense of humour. I'm enjoying my time with it, though the difficulty was a bit much - luckily, the dev included functionality to make it easier on yourself to progress without hitting the wall of "I am but a mere mortal and my accursed hands lack the reflexes to react on time, while my flawed human mind cannot collate everything that is going on on-screen". It would most definitely benefit from the ability to save mid-run, but otherwise is a functional, fun little game. Recommended!
this is one of the most unbalanced games with the worst boss design nyaa has eber seen and nyaa played isaac if nya like infinite ad spam and with way to tanky enemies play this game but this is only nyaas opinion 3/10 jeffs with ptsd
Very repetitive
The combat is challenging and relies on the rhythym of the music, which is incredibly catchy. It ticks all the boxes of what makes a rogue-lite great. Give it a go, or don't. I don't control your life. Maybe go outside today.
If you like roguelites def give this one a shot!
A very fun (but challenging!) Roguelite, very different from others I've played. Each weapon is very different from each other (link gun for life!) and requires a different playstyle. Each gun making different music on top of the base music in the game was a nice touch. If you're looking for your next challenge and want to play something different (and more sarcastic than your average Roguelite), I recommend City of Beats.
