About High Strategy: Urukon
This game is a grand strategy enthusiast's attempt to find a purified core loop of decision-making. All needless repetitive tasks are unceremoniously discarded. Instead, you get 10 actions that consume or convert 9 primary resources. Each turn, you (and each AI-controlled faction) get to take one action. The complexity comes from a dynamic world with many interactive systems.
The actions you can take:
Some example considerations that you'll need to juggle:
The actions you can take:
- Respond to foreign invasions and natural calamities.
- Trade one resource for another.
- Recruit soldiers or labourers from your population.
- Nurture a city to boost its production.
- Steal resources from your neighbours.
- Infiltrate cities in preparation for an attack.
- Capture foreign cities by force.
- Negotiate to induce cities to join you peacefully.
- Build or restore unique landmarks.
- Excavate in search of resources and unique relics.
Some example considerations that you'll need to juggle:
- Each of the 32 playable factions has asymmetric starting conditions and unique goals.
- Cities are populated by various combinations of different cultures, which produce and require different resources.
- Actions affect relations with AI-controlled factions, which modify how they act toward you.
- There are no formal truces or alliances, and any faction can attack any other faction at any time (with a few story-related exceptions).
- Some cities are subaquatic, and require a different resource to capture or raid.
- Cities can be affected by random or circumstance-driven events.
- 67 unique landmarks can be built or restored to give a powerful bonus.
- A faction's capital cannot be relocated, and losing it destroys the faction entirely.
- Capturing another faction's capital lets you seize any relics they own, which are otherwise random finds.

Surprisingly deep strategy game with a simple premise. World is packed with lore
Very simple but very fun! Got 100% achievements after only ~20 hours but still occasionally come back to it for a chill bout of conquest.
A compelling distillation of a 4x game. Lore of the world is pretty nice too. A very fun, fast 4x game once you get the hang of it. Very fun
A quick and fun indie strategy game. The core gameplay loop involves converting different resources into each other, in a very simple and streamlined manner with no fancy graphics or micromanaging, which was exactly what I was looking for at the time I discovered this game. Basically you have a limited amount of actions that convert your resources via known rules into others, and can take one of them per turn. The different playable factions have different goals, that need to be fulfilled in a set amount of turns, so your goal is to be efficient in the actions you take and find a sensible way to fulfill that goal. A single run is fairly short and can be done in 30 minutes to a bit above an hour. Some faction goals are harder than others, or require thinking about how you approach them, but I had fun completing all of them. The presentation is very indie, so dont expect too much in the way of graphics or rewarding messages. I liked the worldbuilding, which was kept a bit vague in some points, but had just enough to get my own imagination going about the places described, even though I mostly don't care that much about these things in my indie strategy games. All in all I consid…
