About Horticular: Build a Garden, Attract Wildlife
Horticular is a relaxing garden-builder that begins with mysterious gnomes summoning you. Their wish? For you to breathe new life into a long-lost garden, abandoned by its previous caretaker. Enter a magical world where you build up and expand a lush garden at your own pace. In your journey, you attract adorable animals to inhabit every corner; uncover helpful upgrades; and assist quirky characters for rewards and story development—all while juggling decay and fending off corruption sent by your nemesis! Build and expand the garden of your dreams with hundreds of unlockable surface types and items. You set the pace and what to do next, whether it be developing a new vegetable area, progressing a lucrative story arch, or just sitting back and admiring your creation.
Create and preserve animal habitats to attract adorable creatures. Each species has its own requirements to fulfill before they pay you a visit, so you have to plan ahead if you want them all. Should you not take proper care of your inhabitants, they may leave you in pursuit of better luck elsewhere! Immerse yourself in your personal garden diorama, complete with a day-night cycle and weather effects. But while a rainy and lantern-lit evening may be cozy, it is not just for show! You will find that darkness attracts unsavory characters, some animals prefer specific weather conditions, and lightning strikes loom under stormy skies.
Nurture your garden with magic. Over time, you will have to deal with unhappy animals, garden decay, and corrupted agents sent by your nemesis. But with a combination of helpful gnomes and your own magical gloves, you are sure to keep an everblooming environment.
Choose how your gardening journey develops by upgrading abilities and investing in new items. Since you make the decision, every playthrough is personal. But worry not; no choice locks you out of content, and you are able to collect everything!
Encounter multiple quirky characters writing you letters throughout the story. Each individual has their own specialty, and they frequently give you tasks to carry out in exchange for a reward. What you decide to pursue is completely up to you, and there is always something waiting to be done.

Great great game. Here’s a tip: If the conditions are right, it will automatically generate a habitat. Then, an animal will show up, and you’ll be tempted to put the animal in the habitat. You do NOT have to do this. DONT house a frog just because there is space. Leave that fella hopping around without a home. It’s okay. There’s no way to remove an auto-habitat other than removing qualifying items in it’s chunk.15 found this helpful
TL;DR
Do you have ADHD and/or autism just like me? Do you like complex systems, building, and unlocks in games? Spend a small amount of money and WAY too many hours on this game. I genuinely can't recommend this game enough! At sale, it's a STEAL! The last two weeks I have played 40 hours of this game. That is a half-time job. My actual job has been stressful lately and this game has seriously been like therapy for me. It starts out fairly simple with easy animals with simple requests for their habitats. Soon, you'll be juggling multiple different animal habitats that require other habitats to overlap with their own. You'll run out of available space and need to unlock new items that make multiple animals happy. Also, not all animals are compatible! You get access to frogs and goldfish very early on and learn that goldfish are driven away by frogs. However, you will later find an animal that needs both frogs and goldfish to overlap with their habitat to be happy. This creates a very dynamic and interesting environmental puzzle that I can sit and tweak for literal hours, as is obvious.3 found this helpful
Mix of Viva Pinata and Stardew Valley. The corrupted can be overwhelming mid game but its satisfying to build a good ecosystem
I've been enjoying this game; I like that it's fairly chill while also having tasks to do. I do find the banishing feature kind of finicky at times and I think it can be improved (it's very tile-specific + you have to hold it down for a bit), and it's also hard to expand sometimes because it can be difficult to get more gold, and I'm left waiting multiple in-game days to finally save up enough to expand or buy something from the merchant. This isn't really a problem with sandbox mode, but going from unlocking ~4 creatures to checking out creative mode made me feel overwhelmed because there's so many items. I think that mode is better for when you already have an understanding of all the habitat requirements and plants, but ofc it's hard to get to that point when you have to grind for gold in the regular game mode. And ik it's easier to get gold when you have more variety in plants and such but that's hard to do when you... can't afford those plants to begin with lol. Anyway, just some thoughts, but overall it's a fun game. I do have some gripes but that doesn't mean I don't recommend it.
Developed by inDirection Games and published by Slug Disco, Horticular: Build a Garden, Attract Wildlife offers a refreshing blend of garden design, wildlife conservation, and gentle management mechanics that delivers a deeply relaxing experience without sacrificing meaningful progression. Instead of focusing on farming for profit or surviving against harsh conditions, the game centers on restoring a forgotten magical garden that has been consumed by corruption. Guided by a group of mystical Keepers, players gradually reclaim neglected land and transform it into a vibrant sanctuary where nature can thrive once again. This narrative framework gives every improvement a sense of purpose while maintaining the calm atmosphere that defines the entire adventure. The game's greatest strength lies in the freedom it gives players to shape their own paradise. A wide variety of terrain types, flowers, shrubs, trees, decorative objects, and functional structures become available over time, allowing every garden to develop its own identity. Whether creating colorful botanical displays, peaceful woodland retreats, or carefully organized nature reserves, the building system encourages experimenta…
