About Jera
Jera is a 2d platformer game in which we use powers gained progressively to defeat the evil force that tries to destroy our village.
In Jera, there is a progressive evolution of the things you can do throughout the game. First, the basic mechanics of walking and jumping are given to the player on the first area, the Village. There is where you will be able to talk with the different NPCs making use of a dialog system. There is also where the player is given the first power, the Earth, granting you the ability to swim in mud, being able to reach places you couldn’t otherwise. With this, the gameplay becomes more agile and dynamic, but not as much as when you are granted with the Fire power a bit later, a fire dash.
That is the moment in which the gameplay becomes the fastest and funniest. Then, the player gets the Water Power, and a bit of control and maneuverability is added to the gameplay, being it a gliding mist that makes you hover in the air. The game is fast, but more importantly, dynamic. The enemies and level design of the areas create interesting situations, and the art always stands as something pleasing to see while playing the game. There are some cinematics in the most important parts, and at the end, there is a final boss battle in which the player will need to use all its abilities and everything that has learnt, but this time, from a different perspective, creating a new and final challenge.

The game was developed by 2nd Year students at DigiPen Institute of Technology Europe - Bilbao, in an 8-month project as part of their academic curriculum. The game was made without the usage of a premade engine in C++.

This is by far the best sht I ever played from DigiPen students. Rarest among the rare gems because DigiPen can only leviate good stuff once in a blue moon and I bet it is all due to the kids' talents not the instructors, clearly. As always expected from DigiPen, there are little bugs here and there but nothing game breaking except quite literally only at the last boss. Its face collider is fcken broken on its last phase can cause your character to stuck around his head and they give you only one shot to hit him on his last phase because you can't land anywhere to reset the cycle so if your sweaty hands fckd up on the analog like mine did multiple times, it is game over for you. You also cannot skip the whole intro schabang making you miserably play over and over again, so I spent 20 minutes all thanks to the annoying bugs and was about to give up and come up with hatred here but hey these kids deserve better so I stopped myself and instead gave it a one last go and won. Not DigiPen, they are nowhere near the quality stuff such as Breda University can produce but the developer kids, I hope they continue their journies in this industry because they have potential. Уровни разнообразны и постепенно увеличивают сложность, подталкивая к новым стратегиям. Отдельно стоит отметить отсутствие таймеров или ограничений по ходам, что позволяет вдумчиво планировать каждый шаг. Несмотря на свою простоту, 'Jera' обладает высокой реиграбельностью. Хочется возвращаться снова и снова, чтобы улучшить результат и открыть новые комбинации. Это отличный выбор для тех, кто ищет спокойную, но увлекательную головоломку, которая сможет занять вас на несколько часов. Однозначно рекомендую!

First part was awesome but couldn't continue on second part due huge fps drop... Needs optimization.
Short, but fun fantastic art and fun platforming.
