Nine Witches: Family Disruption

4/10 - Exceptionally unfunny point and click game filled with terrible combat sections and only passable puzzles. This was a huge letdown. It looked great, and the occult WW2 theme is often interesting, the plot is pretty good but the comedy in the game is basically overuse of 4th wall breaks and poop jokes, it's not that either of them couldn't work once, but when it's all the game has it, gets boring very fast and before the game is finished it's almost unbearable. The rest of the jokes are not especially funny other than a few chuckles in the entire game. For a comedy game that's a death sentence. Humour is subjective so take this critique for what it is, but this was one of the least funny point and click games I have ever played. Even worse is that the game also pad the game length with having you run back and forth around the entire map (is it so hard to implement a fast travel map...), it get's even worse in the last chapter. The puzzles are also just OK, with a few that are just repeating the same objective several times when you already solved the puzzle, for no reason at all. It just adds busy work and is a waste of the players time. The final strike against the game …

This game felt like playing one of those old point and click games. The best part was the story, it's characters, the art and its gameplay. But the worst was also the gameplay. While it was only a few mechanics towards the end of the game, in true classic point and click fashion, there were a few puzzles that had you scratching your head at how it was possible to come to that conclusion. There were also a couple items/searchable areas that were easily missable due to it being hidden or having to pixel hunt. I know this kind of humour is not for everyone but I did get a laugh at most of the jokes. The same with the combat sections. I know there are a few that struggled with it (and I did find a few of the battles a little overwhelming) but Iwas able to complete it after my second or third try [spoiler]not inlcuding the church section[/spoiler] 8/10 game!

Nice, silly game. Good humor, weird story, but awful graphics. Oh. And one too many tes*icles... HA HA!

There were some decent mechanics in this. Switching characters was interesting except that the second character can't do 90% of the actual interactions so it felt tacked on. The 'action' sequences started out fun but even the devs must have known they were too hard and added in a 'just nuke em all' options with that extra added bonus of shaming you for using it. I have been playing adventure games since the mid 90s and I think I would put this game as the absolute highest amount of backtracking I have had to do...have this cutscene then go as far as you possibly can through multiple forced maze screens to go get an item that only appears there after you leave. The humor was 80% scatalogical which, don't get me wrong, a fart joke from time to time is funny. Every other joke being one is just bad writing. I wanted to like this so much and it started out so promising but for the last couple hours I ended up just checking a walkthrough repeatedly just to get it over with (and even THEN I had to do a bunch of backtracking). Maybe when I was a kid if I had played it I might have thought it was great, but the simple fact that the game doesn't even respect your time by skipping over screen…

Simple, fun adventure game with a couple twists on the formula: - You control 2 characters with different abilities - A few short combat minigames - One big evolving map, you rarely visit a place just once - Controls deisgned for a controller, or keyboard with no mouse It took me about 4 hours to see everything without a guide, and it was fairly easy. The jokes reminded me of WW2 comedy series like 'Allo 'Allo. Mostly immature, sometimes funny. The story mainly serves to hold the funny parts together. Good to pick up on a sale, and by now you can always get it on sale somewhere.
