This game is a fun homage to the original Bomberman—it's essentially Bomberman on steroids. It has new powers, maps, charming visuals, and cool character designs. I think that Bomberman old timers will feel right more comfortable, but new players might find it less intuitive at first. A demo mode or tutorial would definitely help players grasp the mechanics quicker. Even as someone familiar with the original, I occasionally struggled with some of the new powers and died a lot because of it. The game definitely has a learning curve, especially because the AI is challenging. Sometimes it's forgiving, but other times it feels almost psychic, which makes it frustrating. I would like a difficulty slider to be available? Also maybe create some kind of global stats. Just to feel more comfortable about how many kill I've made over all the games. Maybe have a levelling system and unlock characters based on my bomber level? What I'd really love to see is a tournament mode. Without it, game play sessions often feel interrupted, preventing that satisfying streak of continuous gaming. Multiplayer suffers from a lack of active players. It's ok. Compared to the Atomic Bomberman on PC, or Master Blaster on Amiga it's a little bit clunky. The controls aren't that smooth and it feels more like the original Dyna Blast (or whatever was the name) from 30 years ago. The main thing lacking is ability to play up to some score. Instead of having the single arena and set number of lives, it would be nicer if you could play a best-of-7 series or similar modes where you need a target number of wins. Final verdict 6/10. We played a 3-player game and had some fun for about an hour and a half. I was worth it given the discount on already low price, but I'm not sure if I'll play this ever again.
