Revolve

Revolve plays like it states on the tin, a minimalist inertia based platformer. You control a space bike traversing ever more challenging levels from left to right (essentially only in that direction) by providing input to it's primary/jump thrusters, brake, and some sort of gravity inverter. It's designed to be played in self contained stages that realistically take only 2 minutes to clock each. The physics behave intuitively enough to effectively time leaps over deadly red glowing exposed power conduits (that make up the only hazard I've discovered so far), and yet it's compact layout, lack of time limit and gentle vangelis-esque soundtrack keep this simple premise from being either too frustrating or straight boring. It's not a title to immerse yourself in, and here-in lies my only complaint. The soundtrack stops jarringly after each death returns you to the begining of the stage; and I personally think it'd add something to the gameplay flow if the low key track just strummed away regardless of your untimely demise and immediate ressurection. It was also interesting to me that apparently you don't control the robot directly and it has "triggeractive" controls! Revolve looks incredibly visually appealing, combined with potentially interesting controls... so let's give it a go! It's not *too* bad, certainly fun for killing time when you have a few minutes to spare!

Where to start.....Revolve is awesome! Beautiful colors, great sound track, levels progress with difficulty nicely, and just an overall blast. Challenging but relaxing at the same time, if that makes sense. My only grip would be is the mechanic of when you need to jump and use your boost, seems like both are drained together even when you only use one. Now this is probably coded this way for a reason to make it more of a challenge, but its gets a little frustrating at times. Other than that, the game is def worth it!

[h1] Unique gravity based platformer but this time control unknown vehicle. In this case you don't have direct control over it, instead press buttons with corresponding actions to control the thing. 4 actions are as follows, thrust, gravity flip, jump and brake. Each costs some energy which replenish fairly quickly, so you don't just spam buttons... rather use them strategically at the right moment taking advantage of the surroundings and such. Best way to check out how it works is to play it. Levels are well designed however they lack in some more variety. Backgrounds set in space and about 100 levels to complete. Community made maps available to download. Soundtrack is like machinery hum mixed with some ambient notes, really fits in. Worth checking out if you hunt for games with unusual controls or just want to smash your controller into pieces... [/h1]

Revolve is an excellent Triggeractive platformer and offers you seventy levels for you to solve, divided into ten chapters. The game's graphics and soundtrack are beautiful and complete the whole sci-fi dystopian world of Revolve. While chapter one is fairly easy to complete and is a good way to get to know the abilities of your drone, the chapters after that become more and more complicated by the minute. Revolve was showcased @ Indigo 2017 by Dutch Game Garden. Bought the game the same day to play it with my son. Nominated the game for the Steam 'Defies Description' award.
