About the Game
Snowpainters is an arcade racing game where you play as speedy color-changing penguins. Play alone or with friends, change between colors, race on colorful paint trails, and bring color to a snowy environment!
Penguin Customization
Choose between three distinct penguins to race against your friends and other competitive penguins! Pick between the light, speedy Rockhopper, the heavy, controlled Emperor, and the well-balanced Adélie penguin. Choose between a plethora of hats to give extra personality to your penguin.
Color-Changing Gameplay
Use a new, unique mechanic to the arcade racing genre. Gather paint cans to fill your boost meter and speed through the track while dropping paint trails behind you. Strategically change your color to match the different paint trails on the track to go even faster!
Tracks
Play against your friends on 3 different arctic-themed tracks, “North Pole”, “Ice Caves”, and “Glacier”, to see who is the fastest penguin racer! Play on the North Pole, the Ice Caves, and the Glacier with eight total penguins. Wanting to roam the snowy mountains or learn the game for the first time? Play through the single-player tutorial to explore the vast icy tundra.
About the Team
Snowpainters was made by graduate students at SMU Guildhall as part of their Team Game Project course. The game was designed and produced by a diverse group representing a variety of cultures, nationalities, genders, and sexual identities.

"Snowpainters" is a student project from the SMU Guild Hall, except it looks suspiciously like a reskin of Tux Racer if you ask me. Anyway, when your student project compares badly to FOSS demo games, you know you're gonna have a bad time. Like Tux Racer, you're sliding down a hill. There's a gimmick with different colours, whatever. It's not a lot of fun at the end of the day. And not worth downloading. The graphics in this game are passable, but could be better. And while it's vital for any game to have impressive visuals (gaming is a visual medium, after all), there's more to a game than just the graphics. To be worth a gamers time, the game must match top tier visuals with top tier gameplay, and that's not happening here. You're forced to sign a highly questionable yet legally unenforceable End User License Agreement... for such a relatively low effort, low quality product, this comes across more as a delusion of grandeur than anything else. This agreement includes questionable requirements that may attempt to revoke consumer law protections that gamers expect to have, which is also highly problematic. Игра "Snowpainters" – это неожиданно увлекательная и забавная аркада, в которой нужно закрашивать снежные уровни, соревнуясь с другими игроками или ботами. Простая на первый взгляд, она быстро затягивает своим динамичным геймплеем и тактическими возможностями. Управление интуитивно понятное, и разобраться в нем можно за считанные секунды. Суть в том, чтобы ездить по заснеженным аренам и оставлять за собой след из краски, захватывая как можно больше территории. Важно не только быстро перемещаться, но и продумывать стратегию, чтобы подрезать соперников и отбирать у них окрашенную землю. Особенно радует разнообразие уровней, каждый из которых предлагает уникальные вызовы и возможности для проявления креативности. Есть и бонусы, которые добавляют азарта и позволяют переломить ход игры. Несмотря на минималистичную графику, игра выглядит стильно и привлекательно. Саундтрек бодрый и энергичный, отлично дополняет игровой процесс. В целом, "Snowpainters" – это отличный выбор для тех, кто ищет простую, но захватывающую аркаду, в которую можно быстро сыграть несколько матчей и получить массу удовольствия.
