Star Wars Outlaws

Star Wars Outlaws has awesome graphics, a decent enough story, and it's an open world Star Wars game! You get to go to different worlds, see all of the different humanoid creatures, and fight a rancor! You start on Cantonica and travel to Toshara, Kijimi, Akiva, and finally Tatooine! There is an area if you stand outside at night you'll see the 3 moons. Any true Star Wars fan should love this game just for the lore, creatures and worlds. The character models are just awesome! Blaster play is fun! My favorite character is Nix. Highly recommended!!!

Has its flaws. (dumb AI, frustrating stealth segments, too much repetitive side content that distracts from the main story, not enough options for combat...) On the positive side it oozes Star Wars vibes as it's filled to the brim with details and life. It looks damn good and runs pretty well. It's a more gritty and grounded setting than the superhero Disney vibes you get from the movies. I can not share the hate towards Kay's character design as she does come across as a female Han Solo which fully fits the setting and vibe. If you grab this when it's on sale you get a high quality action adventure that offers a lot of fan service for Star Wars fans. I bought the base game on Ubi when it released and the experience wasn't as good as is today. I can immediately feel the smoother combat and better performance. So yeh..buy on sale and it'll make you happy. For 60$ you get better games. For 30$ though, this offers a lot of good bang for buck.

I got this game because I wanted to play a more open world Star Wars adventure game without Jedi. Starfield does not hit the itch I want because its' world and factions are dull while No Man's Sky is not a game about combat. Star Wars Outlaws early on fits that billing with many caveats. The introduction of this game starts off like a great on-rails introduction, but in later missions it was obtuse and confused me despite the sections all being along narrow corridors. The main character Kay has a generic and boring name, accent, look, and personality. Kay looks way closer to 12 than her actual age of 22 and their motion/voice actress' (Humberly González) was 32 when this game out. The gameplay is good, not great. It does many things and executes everything it needs to above average. The accessibility tied to gameplay is easy-to-use, well laid out and explained concisely. The world feels and acts like Star Wars. It nails the atmosphere and look, and I like the diversity of species used. The supporting characters that take some screen time do a really good job. You know, there is a great game here buried underneath so many bugs and so much ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ you only occasionally catch glimpses of it. Quest markers sometimes lead you where you need to go, sometimes they point you within a hundred meters, sometimes they don't show up at all. Maps are pretty much useless unless you just need to know a general direction. Pathing is largely linear when comes to exploration, most interesting locations will have one way to arrive and you have to figure out what it is only to get rewarded with trash. Faction system is absolutely ridiculous - you can do several quests for a faction and then lose literally everything you had with them a more because a non-optional, unavoidable, story mission forces you to choose which faction you are going to lose all progress with. Loot is useless. Credits are pointless. Side quests are mostly filler -but at least they work, whereas main quests are well designed but often broken. Save system is malicious and capricious. Every time you make a mistake it will auto-save immediately, whenever you want to make a save to explore or to experiment the option will be unavailable. Do NOT buy this game. There are SO many bugs. To begin with, the game indicates at launch that it is running on a mechanical hard drive and suggests that it will run better on an SSD... except I only have SSD's so it can't possibly be detecting a mechanical hard drive. That probably should have been a warning for the multiple issues that come up during gameplay: It's often possible to pick up quest related items before receiving the related mission, but quest completion will not trigger unless the item is picked up AFTER getting the mission; this effectively prevents the player from completing a number of missions unless a save can be loaded from before the item was picked up. In addition, random crashes occur without warning or preamble in the middle of play or when exiting a menu. Further complicating matters, the mouse/keyboard frequently quit working upon entering menus or looking at the map, requiring a controller to be connected in order to even exit the menu or map. Topping things off, there are multiple graphics issues that persist even after turning settings down to minimal and despite my high end video card with 16gb of dedicated VRAM. Definitely not recommended!
