About Rebel Galaxy Outlaw
Play as a scrappy space mercenary, trader, or pirate across nearly 40 gritty systems, taking on jobs, dogfighting rivals, and chasing treasure while building your fortune and customizing your ship. An open-world space adventure that lets you follow the story or forge your own path, complete with arcade games, pool halls, and 24+ hours of music to soundtrack your outlaw life.
Strap into a variety of spacecraft, settle a score in a filthy space-bar over a game of 8-ball, rock out to over 24 hours of music, and engage in white-knuckle dogfights.
In the Dodge Sector it’s hard to get by – and even harder to get even.
Rebel Galaxy Outlaw is an open-world space combat adventure game, spread across the nearly 40 systems of the Dodge Sector. Play as a mercenary, a trader, a pirate, or whatever mix of the three you feel fits you best. With an engaging storyline and a full conversation system, you can follow the narrative, or ignore it and forge your own path at any time.
Engage in white-knuckle combat, and use the included Autopursuit function to effortlessly fly like an ace, instead of space-jousting for hours. Save up your credits, buy a new ship, kit it out, and then paint it in a fully-fledged 3d-painting application. Make a fortune exploiting lucrative trade routes. Join guilds, help or hunt those in distress, buy and outfit your own space station. Grab a tip in a local bar and hunt hidden treasure. In your down-time, shoot some 8-ball, play some dice-poker, or aim for the high-score in an arcade game in the local seedy watering hole. Flip through the 7 included radio stations and vast music library for just the right track to fit your current mood.

This is Privateer. If that doesn't mean anything to you, this may not be the game for you. But if you're an old man like me who played Privateer back in 1993 then this is exactly what you're looking for. This game is a love letter to that earlier masterpiece, and they do it justice.8 found this helpful
Rating: ★★★ - Okay Time Played: 2.3 hours Difficulty: Normal Gameplay: - Arcade flight model has six-degrees-of-freedom which predecessor 'Rebel Galaxy' doesn't. But with the auto-lock on, it trivialised combat and focuses more on what you have. - Ship customisation and trading systems are shallow compared to what Elite Dangerous and Everspace 2 now offer, and both of those games do the combat loop with more depth and longevity. - If you've already played either Everspace 2 or Elite dangerous, this will feel like a step backward in everything except tone and presentation. Story\Dialogue: - Wing Commander/Privateer-like, leans hard into pulpy space-western banter and voiced NPCs at bars and stations. - Dialogue is serviceable, not memorable. It's there to move you between missions. Graphics\Music: - The OST is genuinely excellent, licensed rock and outlaw-country tracks that give the game more personality than the gameplay does. - Art style and cockpit/station visuals are the game's other real strength: warm, retro-futurist, distinct from the sterile sci-fi look most space games default to. - Ironically the best thing this game does i…4 found this helpful
Not at all like the first game. I abandoned it despite those Privateer vibes. Couldn't make it work for me. Third try now I finally got it and the soundtrack got me.4 found this helpful
Fun game. Reminds me of all the hours I put into the '90s flight sims back in the day, like some of the Microprose ones. The thing I think this game did wrong was making it possible to NOT have fun. The "easy" or "normal" difficulty settings remove a lot of the actual gameplay by assuming you can't figure it out or want your hand held. I think the only sin this game commits is not trusting itself to be fun or that the right players would find it.4 found this helpful
I loved the original Rebel Galaxy and I really enjoyed this one. Music in the game was amazing, as music pumps your adrenaline during dogfights. The game would benefit greatly with a DLC /expansion pack, mostly to change the ending a bit. But good game! Love upgrading gear, special missions to get access to a specific shop or gear. Adjusting your tactics to take out a large group of enemies. World size was big enough and the different tasks/missions was plenty (some what repetitiv) so you could upgrade and continue the story.1 found this helpful
