About Stonefly

Discover the Unexpected World of Stonefly
Stonefly is an action-adventure RPG in which you pilot a tiny robot mech in a magical forest. Hop along rocks and leafy canopies while you upgrade your rig with an arsenal of air and wind abilities. Follow the journey of Annika Stonefly as she attempts to recover a stolen family heirloom, strategically battling bugs and critters across an epic story.

A New Way to Move
The mechs in Stonefly are unlike any machine you’ve piloted before. Flip what you know about games and spend most of your time gliding instead of walking. This allows you to traverse a variety of terrain and avoid the dangerous bugs that crawl around below you.

Harness the Wind
Invent abilities that empower you in unique king-of-the-hill style combat centered on using wind to push bugs out of the arena. Each bug has its own behavior and requires a different strategy to defeat. The more efficient you are at dealing with bugs, the faster you will gather precious minerals used to upgrade your mech.

Vibes & Visuals
Stonefly is set to a backdrop of beautiful colors and the techno-nature music of Natureboy Flako. Forge relationships with memorable characters from the Acorn Corps, a band of castaway mech pilots. Adventure through leafy autumn canopies, prickly briars, and misty marshes.

This game is GORGEOUS and so much fun. The movement is incredible. This is such a fun experience. A simple idea, bug-like mechs in a world of giant bugs? or the people are tiny? It doesn't really waste any time with explanations. This probably isn't even Earth. Will that be revealed later? Idk and honestly don't feel a huge need for answers o my questions. I just want to BE BUG. I can't wait to play more of this game.
a corn in the hood
This is an interesting game. I would give it excellent for the idea and the design, but meh/average for the implementation and gameplay. It is still worth playing. The visuals are great, there is a cool character design and kind of cartoonish cut scenes with full 3d animation and dialogue. And there is a whole world of bugs to explore! Plus a creative RPG upgrade system for the rig. Very cool! Except that the character stories are not very well written, dialogue pace has no control, the "open" world has narrow walls and stuff that gets in your view all the time, the navigation is hard because there is no map, and controls are overcomplicated. These annoyances are tolerable, albeit spoiling the first impression from the design. But the worst part by far is combat. At first, it's hard but engaging. Then it's just annoying. At the end (boss fights) it's just ridiculous. The only useful upgrades are the defensive ones. Your weapon is very weak and can be only used as a stun gun in a narrow window when the enemies attack you. But to kill them, you have to throw them off the arena's cliff! This is an awful mechanic, which at first seems like an original challenging approach, but it ge…
Very cool game. Played right after playing the studio's first game "Creature in the well" Love the visuals and ambiance of the game. The combat can feel a little chaotic from time to time and it's difficult to tell depth in the game when flying. Exploring feels rewarding, I would love even more of it ! The concept is cool I enjoyed the adventure !
Stonefly creates an inviting sense of scale, making you feel genuinely tiny. I was immediately captivated by its lush world and the unique concept of piloting small, bug-shaped mechs known as rigs. You play as Annika Stonefly, who uses her skills as an inventor to upgrade a rusty rig in order to retrieve her father's stolen heirloom. I especially liked how Annika’s upgrades are inspired by her surroundings and introduced at relevant moments. Some are sparked by encounters with bugs, while others reveal themselves naturally over the course of the story. Gameplay centers around staying airborne and bouncing off the ground to evade the dangerous bugs lurking below. Annika not only uses wind abilities to float but also relies on them as a gentle form of combat. Instead of dealing direct damage, you knock the bugs off balance and send them over the edge with a gust of wind. This mechanic aligns beautifully with the game’s non-violent tone. While combat can occasionally feel punishing, it fits the game’s concept well, reinforcing the idea that you are tiny and competing for scarce resources. The story could have been developed further and would have benefited from a more robust setup, …
Fun and unique game. I didnt think i would enjoy what is essentially sumo wrestling, but it really is enjoyable. Also despite the fact that the mechs are not very traditional, this truly does (to me atleast) feel like a mecha game. slowly making upgrades and accumulating gear and abilities that all serve different purposes feels good and rewarding. music is very good and the artstyle while not the best is pretty good too. story was good, i enjoyed it. my main complaint is that there is no dialog noise at all, not even animal crossing chirps, but thats a pretty small complaint over all. definitely recommend if the trailer piques your interest.
