About Icarian

Icarian

Chase. Close the distance. Strike. You are IX, an android built for aerial combat, hunting down rogue mechs through the ruins of a world that already ended. No ground support. No mission briefing. Just open air and something fast moving through it that needs to come down.

Pure Aerial Combat

Your targets don't fly straight. They weave through wreckage, hug terrain, force bad angles. Close distance too fast and you overshoot. Hesitate and the window's gone.Every engagement is a read-and-commit. Speed, angle, timing, get all three right and the hit lands clean. Get one wrong and you're picking yourself out of a rock face.

Combat

Getting close is only half the fight. Chain together melee combos when you're in range, parry incoming strikes to punish openings, and dodge missiles before they track you into a wall. A dynamic camera and lock-on system keep your target in frame through the chaos, so when the moment comes, you can read it clearly and commit.

Handcrafted Boss Arenas

Each encounter takes place in a tightly designed combat space built to push your flight skills.Current arenas:
  • Desert - Vast open sky broken by towering rock formations and dangerous terrain channels.
  • Ocean - A massive hole in the middle of the ocean with a pillar of water in the middle

No story holding your hand. No map telling you where to go. Just speed, instinct, and the next enemy in your sights.

It's like dragon riding segments in Drakengard but you play as the latex robot lady from overwatch.

The game's a little weird for the movement, sometimes it feels like I'm staying still even though I know I'm moving. The gameplay "loop" is pretty simple with a tutorial level and two normal levels, but its suprisingly engaging with how simple the controls are. I also kind of like the parry, its not too hard to hit, but its timed a little earlier than how most games would have it. 7/10

Its a fun little game kinda like Dark Void flying. I just wish it had pc support since it only shows Xbox controller layouts and nothing else. (You can still use keyboard stuff but you'll have to guess which button does what)

Honestly a pretty cool concept, just lacking in polish and content. Combat needs more variety, UI and controls are buggy. Visually it needs some kind of anti-aliasing and the motion blur effect is a too much - at the very least it shouldn't apply to the player character and the enemy while in combat, since it makes it hard to see. Could be cool with some more work! :)
