✦ AI summary
Players report that the PC version suffers from severe technical issues including game-breaking bugs that prevent progression, frequent crashes, and apparent abandonment with no updates in years. While some nostalgic players enjoyed the game's relaxing hiking experience and appreciate the Appalachian Trail setting, the PC version contains significantly less content than the free mobile version and is largely unplayable due to unresolved bugs that Steam refuses to refund.
After playing The Trail for a while I just noticed that the PC version of the game has actually much less content than the mobile version which is free. Pretty sick decision in my opinion. Don't buy this.29 found this helpful
This game has literally bug that prevent it from being play and continue. it's been abandon. check the last update. Steam has refuse to refund this game. It's taken me longer then two hours to reach the point, where this game has a major game bug that prevent me from playing further. I have crash over 8 time in row. (Full game freeze) (The freeze happen every-time through a mandatory game aspect. I Tried different variable to avoid it. I have troubleshoot and was unable to fix it. I have found evidence through the game forum of this problem existing prior and has not been fix in several years. It's seems steam statement on this regard is as long as the game reach the 2 hours mark. you're on your own, no refund. I saw no mention on the purchase page about the game being in "abandon" state. DO NOT BUY UNLESS YOU WISH TO TAKE A RISK.16 found this helpful
I played this game on mobile when I was a kid and loved it. When I saw that it was on Steam I knew I had to get it. Thru-hiking the entire length of the Appalachian Trail has been a dream of mine for a long time, and this game felt like I was doing that but through my computer. I really hope I get to do the real thing one day. After all these years I finally decided to pick the game back up and finish it, and I enjoyed every moment of it.6 found this helpful
Used to be a dream to play, but now it won't progress beyond the start of the game where it asks you to put the "discarded" clothes on4 found this helpful

Endless grind for tools, cloth, food. The mobile game feel is strong in this one. Also annoying slow animations
