Tiny Tina's Wonderlands

Tiny Tina's Wonderlands is a kinda bad game. In theory, a comedy FPSRPG set in a D&D campaign in a cartoon version of Mad Max is so interesting you can't ♥♥♥♥ it up, but man they really did. Every punch is pulled. Every single one. The humor is so tame and even then it's weirdly apologetic. The cartoon colors are really washed out. The unique setting is wasted on all those generic castles full of standard skeletons. There's this really awesome multi-class level-up system where for some awful reason you still have to grind for several real world hours to unlock a 2% chance to do basically nothing, which is a pretty apt description of almost everything in every skill tree in the game. The first-person parkour is honestly better than it was in Doom 2016 in every way, so why, then, isn't it fun? It's baffling. The only funny parts of this comedy game were written by Yahtzee Croshaw, but unfortunately, most of it wasn't. They decided their faceless robot character with nothing interesting to say should be played by Wanda effing Sykes, which could not have been cheap, but also wasn't funny. Boy I wish the extremely heavy handed political propaganda in this game was actually progressive …

I enjoyed this game through the first few player levels. It's a refreshing twist on Borderlands. It has really lovely environments. Shooting is as great as it always is. However, the guns are woefully underpowered. One shot kills are rare and many can take a couple full clips. These are against basic enemies. Oh yeah and the guns are boooooooring. So boring. Nothing like a real Borderlands game. Yeah . . . Gearbox this is a shooter. Don't nerf our guns.
