Borderlands 3 is proof that Gearbox learned exactly one lesson from the last decade: if the guns feel good enough, players will forgive almost anything, including a script that thinks it's funnier than it is. And to be fair, the gunplay does feel good — genuinely, mechanically good. Sliding into cover, dual-wielding a corrosive shotgun and a fire pistol, watching numbers explode off an enemy's head in six different colors — that's the hook, and it works. The RPG systems here arguably outclass most other shared-world shooters, and the skill trees give you enough room to actually build a character instead of just picking a class and pulling triggers. techradar Everything else is the game daring you to keep liking it. The writing is Telltale-tier quippy dialogue that mistakes volume for wit — every NPC talks like they're auditioning for a podcast. Vehicles and vehicular combat are too imprecise to be more than a novelty, so you end up walking past the "new movement mechanic" they were so proud of. Fun game to shooty shooty and looty looty

Tl;dr Meh. The series no longer has its charm in BL1 and 2 had. Overall a very shallow story. Idgaf about the potty humor or ♥♥♥♥♥♥ jokes. That has always been in the borderlands series. The UI and animation has been completely "modernized". The simplicity is what helped make it attractive. They even messed up the cell shading. In previous entries it was hard lines with duller colors. Now its all bright colors and unnecessary details to make the world feel more "hardcore". The animations have been way overcooked. Lots of exaggerated movements just to show "look how much cooler this is and how much work we put into it!" When in reality it just makes aiming less fun and more annoying to look at. Even the "big bad" made himself known in BL2 by now. In 3 its just a name with a face. You have no emotional attachment to any of the characters as they were before or the bad guy. The quests are also now WAY more spread out. In 1 and 2 there were "quests hubs" where you would go to get the majority of your side quests. Now you have to do a lot of running around.
