Wet Sand

Wet Sand has a fantastic story plot and is a relatively fun visual novel. The main issue with this beta is definitely the mini-games. Very few, if any, give directions on how to play the mini game itself. Some are even glitched, causing an empty background page instead of loading the program. And the ship battle card game tends to heavily favor the AI. New cards popping up on the AI’s turn are game changing while new/existing cards are rarely in the player’s (at least in my play through). But the caveat is there is an option to play without the mini-games at all so you can simply only experience the great, juicy bits.

I have my fair share of games like this that I play from time to time. However, I do not like the negative comments I am seeing here. My gripes are as such. One, this game is $10! Just $10! It has visuals that are well drawn out and there is actually a solid story here. Not just some half baked random story bs in smaller games. Two, I can't believe people don't know how to save their game... it honestly baffles me about the slog of complaints detailing their gripes about the different choices in the game. Just save your game more often? There is enough save slots to do it, so why only have the 1-4 for a single game? When you can use more for different playthroughs? Third, the people who are complaining about the abrupt ending of chapters. They need to read that this game is Early Access! It is not a complete game! It is still being worked on. The creators are taking their time and trying to actually make it a solid game, focusing on its core. Overall, if you like a pirate story with the aspects and flavors of multiple kinks. GET THIS GAME! Support the developers! It is GREAT 10/10 for what you are getting!

BLIF: Decent story, actually well written characters, and some clever minigames cant cover up crippling basic flaws The story of being a stowaway catapulted to being a captain is actually good. The choices you make actually have impact, and the characters have real responses. There are genuine choices to be made and youre actually penalzied for not reading the story and paying attention when there are choices to be made. The problem is you can miss a lot of the content because there is no rewind and no ffwd. So if you want to play the game "correctly" and your blasting through choices, you can inadvertently pick one you didnt mean to, forcing numerous reloads and restarts. Some of the minigames are obnoxious and have no skip. And while you can brute force your way, its sad when you have to play a underbaked effort to copy Gwent or a silly number cruncher. Some of the minigames are actually enjoyable. And again, the novelty is worth a lot. But missing some of the content in a 8 hour story because you cant skip previously seen dialogue is ridiculous. These're basic features, not extravagant asks.

Rollicking pirate adventure with great love interests. 2D renderings of characters and settings are very well done.
