Box Knight

7/10 | Fantastic Fun | Addictive | Comical as f***. Box knight is genuinely fantastic. Whilst I may not have completed the game as of writing this review, I have had a relatively successful first run + played the demo previously prior to this full release. The gameplay is charming in the most humorous ways as well as enjoyable typical roguelike fun. The combat is pretty simplistic to get used to whilst also having to learn a few mechanics from the new enemies as you continuously progress through the game. It features roguelike-benefits which typically mean that the more you play the more ease you may have in future runs as you continuously unlock upgrades, gear, benefits to help you progress through the game. The designs are comical yet also fun and thoroughly fun to fight your way through the levels & the bosses too which were actually pretty tough initially but I imagine you'll overcome them in no time as you progress. It's Australian developed so expect some great humour as well & I believe only a team of 3(?) developers total which is crazy! Neat little roguelite, but Couch Co-Op is the way! Castle Crashers feels with the added roguelite power ups and builds. Can't wait to play more.

Been looking forward to this one, love the art and animation and am enjoying the rogue like action. I couldnt figure out how to beat the first boss, but Ive gotten stronger so will try again, looks like there is lots to unlock!!

A fun rougelike beat 'em up. The art style, dialogue, and humor is extremely on point and makes the game very unique and fun. Small note, I only played solo runs of the game, so no multiplayer. Having played only single player, I will note that some of the encounters/rooms feel like they're specifically scaled for multiple players, with more enemies than feel necessary for single-player. At the same time, I didn't feel it made the game too difficult, just that some rooms seemed to drag on a little longer than necessary at times. I don't think this took away from my enjoyment of the game though; it just made some rooms/areas a little more grindy than expected. I personally think I would recommend grabbing some friends for multiplayer. Although I didn't try the multiplayer, the game definitely feels like it would be more enjoyable with friends running around and getting into shenanigans together rather than a single-player experience.

Option to change FPS cannot be selected or changed and is locked to 40. Not sure why it is disabled. Will edit my review once this is fixed.
