The Bard's Tale Trilogy

The graphics are so bad to make this classic completely unplayable. If this were a remake with the original graphics, or if the graphics were above third grader quality I would be ecstatic. As it is, this game is impossible to get past the opening menu.

If you fondly remember playing The Bard's Tale.... decades ago, you should consider giving this a go. Some QoL and graphic improvements, but largely the same game. Cranked it up today, and the last 4 hours just flew by.

What can I say? I absolutely love the remaster. The tools and guides (yup; that darn wheel too) are available for reference but; the original game is still very much an option for you with these guides still available. Remember those original hint guides? I read them like books as a kid and was mesmerized by the hints to puzzles, and more. Nostalgia remains fully intact with the remaster; lets hope for a proper addition next time around? Just me bein nostalgic again I am sure.

The Bard's Tale was the first game i bought for my first PC - had played it on a friends C64 prior. Back then it was 4-color CGA graffix until I updated to 16-color EGA, but my spoiled friend had full 256-color VGA graffix and I was jealous. This version looks alright, big kinda a meh spreadsheet compared to, say, the Wizardry remake. The auto-mapping is great and it's still fun to toil thru for a bit. I do wish you could toggle legacy options at will, since I wanted to farm berserkers for xp, etc...

If you like Wizardry, you'll adore this.
