Faerie Afterlight

I feel this game is underrated, it doesn't really deserve its "mixed" reviews. Faerie Afterlight is an overlooked metroidvania with beautiful art design and smooth and responsive gameplay... but also a little simple at times. Puzzles are fun and there are a lot of biomes. I found some of the bosses a little weird, but still nice overall. I also want to point out that platforming is way harder than the actual boss fights (except for the final boss, which was quite a challenge). The music is really harmonious, I remember playing and getting goosebumps at some point. On the other hand, NPCs design is too minimalistic, in my opinion. The game has 2 endings which luckily you can achieve in the same run. I would recommend it to metroidvania enjoyers out there It is my duty to write positive reviews for underrated games ☺︎

This game is really good at what it is trying to do, which is frustrating the player. Character controls like a oiled up shopping cart, combat is stale and platforming sections are designed to make you start all over.

ONE OF THE CUTEST METROIDVANIAS EVER I could go on and on about how pretty the art style is and how breathtaking the environmental arts were in the background of the areas, pure eye candy from start to finish. Gorgeously designed characters and beautiful prologue/epilogue cutscenes. This game has a multitude of coincidences that relate to my life such as its release date, the character's names, and the overall atmosphere I always adored as a child. But barring my intrinsic bias for the game, it does have some negatives! Namely the controls being finnicky (in water for example) and forcing me to switch controls mid boss fights often, but that could just be a major skill issue on my part. Despite being a metroidvania there is a minimal amount of backtracking compared to other titles, and a very guided route to follow. I don't view this as a negative though because it makes it perfect for beginners who want to dabble in metroidvanias but are deterred by the grandiose amounts of backtracking and getting lost in progression (even though that IS the essence of metroidvanias), it is simpler than most which means it won't be overwhelming at all and is a good starting point if you want to…

Fun game!

Juego muy bonito, el control de los ataques se sienten bastante bien, apartado musical no esta mal. Historia cumple y ya está, quizas falto algo mas de esencia y aporte dentro de ese ecosistema. Como metroidvania tiene varios puntos que se pudo mejorar y se nota que el equipo le falta algo mas de experiencia en este genero: -Mapa: No es facil rastrear los puntos de zona A y zona B, te fuerza a tener que ir al sitio para saber como esta la zona, deberia de haber un mapa global ademas de la de la zona, sistema de marcadores habria sido un plus enorme. -Habilidades: Creo que no se le saca demasiado provecho las habilidades a nivel de combate, la mayoria solo cumple para ciertas zonas de plataformeo, creo que se pudo mejorar mas ese aspecto -Idioma: Deberia de haber soporte a mas idiomas como el español. La verdad no tengo claro al 100% si recomendarlo o no, le pondre un si porque me gusta jugar el genero en si pero quizas como primer metroidvania hay opciones mas atractivas que este juego.
