Great memory game roguelike best played casually a round here and another there. Boss fights are a menace and you rarely get far into the later double digit levels but you get experience levels at least so there is some slow but steady progression between runs. New decks get unlocked in time. Reading the reviews on this one is somewhat confusing. 'Too easy', 'too hard', 'I dont like memory games' Well that memory part i suppose is the first real caveat here: If you hated finding pairs as a kid in memory games then stay away. This game will be traumatic for you. For me the design is perfect. Casual enough to play quick games here and there but difficulty is pretty brutal anyway and getting far requires various kind of strategies. Boss fights can be super easy - or then the boss hard counters your specific strategy and you are toast. You just scored massively in the round before but when your methods get hard countered by RNG boss then it's over. Might as well just throw the game. But that's RNG life. Another thing i like about the game is that that ultimately so much hinges on your memory and ability to keep track of things. RNG comes next. Each turn cards arrive in pairs…

Replicat has a great concept, presentation, and gameplay. But the easiest difficulty was still way too difficult for me. Hitting stage 12 was only ever a result of pure luck. I can't even imagine trying the harder difficulties or decks. If the score requirements didn't spike super hard or there was metaprogression, I'd be into it. But without that I simply cannot win regardless of how well-honed my strategy is. And for that reason I cannot recommend Replicat to anyone.

Replicat is an entertaining Balatro-esque memory game with cute cat meme art. It's surpisingly satisfying to chase the multipliers and hunt the achievements. The game is light enough that you can play it while pretending to do something more important.

At its core, each encounter revolves around revealing cards and finding matching pairs. Remembering card locations certainly helps, but the game quickly provides ways to manipulate what happens on the board. Certain abilities can reveal additional information, preserve useful cards, generate Jokers, provide extra opportunities, or create unusual combinations that would normally be impossible. As these mechanics accumulate, a run gradually shifts away from being a straightforward memory exercise and becomes an optimization puzzle where the player attempts to squeeze maximum…

Turns out I don't enjoy memory games, but if you love memorization you might love this. Score requirements are balanced around always remembering every revealed card. There's no option to note revealed cards so you have to write them down manually, which breaks the flow and gets repetitive.
