Tic Tactic

TL;DR: The concept is intriguing, and the issues seem fixable: no meta progression, and the mechanics are not explained properly. This results in failed runs not because you've made a mistake, but usually because of an unanticipated move result. This, combined with no meta progression and no undo/explanation/feedback/hints, makes the whole loop tedious and unrewarding for me. Often, I couldn't infer from the brief description what a special piece does and when it triggers unless I tried it blindly several times, which often results in a failed run, as the game expects near-perfect gameplay if you are not lucky with upgrades. That breaks the logical puzzle nature of the game. And since it's roguelike, not roguelite, there is no meta progression between runs to give sufficient drive to repeat. The difficulty spikes too quickly and somehow the runs still feel too long. I always failed due to some new, unexplained mechanic that surprised me with an unanticipated move outcome, which can sometimes even insta-kill you. It's too luck based, I saw no reasonable progression from the 3 runs I did even though I beat the first boss multiple times, and a run is entirely dependent on rng giving you something decent of the *2* options you get after winning a fight with no way of preventing the game from deciding to ♥♥♥♥ you over. And it pisses me off the board clearing after a draw takes precedence over the tile's actions. If I place something on the last turn that would delete a tile then that action should happen instead of just wiping the board. I'm annoyed I spent money on this :/

Surprisingly deep but kinda ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ feeling as you learn. A lot of games like this would ease you in and offer difficulty on an ascension system, but this game just kinda lays into you until you understand... and then there is also a hard mode later. It doesn't require luck so much as it requires you have a thick skin until you learn how to play. It's a fun spin on tic tac toe.... with a big curve. I got it in a bundle for relatively cheap ($1.66) which feels about right.

Awkward buggy game that seems like it was made for mobile but some how wound up on PC.
