PO'ed: Definitive Edition

I never heared of this game before this remaster came out. And now I know why. This game is a weird mediocre old school fps and a weird choice for a remaster. First lets quickly talk about the technical aspects or stuff concerning the remaster only. The remaster is mostly pretty good, but I do have some complaints: -most importantly: the game is lacking quick saves/loads (but it has manual saving/loading), every old school fps should have quick saves -I did have a few crashs, especially on one level my game always crashed when I saved (Level Tiryns) -In another level I had a game breaking bug where my character was stuck under the ceiling, with no way getting down, this even happend on other saves, but restarting the game fixed it -I do think it's very stupid that the remaster has an achievement for beating the game on very hard difficulty. Not only is this very challenging, but also unfair, not fun and annoying as enemies respawn on (only) that difficulty. There is a reason why no one plays Doom on Nightmare difficulty. This game made me sick to play and the controls suck balls still appreciate Nightdive efforts to preserve old video games however.

This game sucks. A lot. It looks and plays terribly. This is a perfect remaster that successfully modernizes it to still look and play terribly on modern hardware. Recommend, I guess?

I'm PO'ed I gave this uncontrollable mess a chance. I love Nightdive's remasters and System Shock Remake, but I would humbly advise them to better prioritize their efforts, as this game seemed unsalvageable to me. Character moves like ♥♥♥♥, it's so frustrating to come from all the classic shooters and play this crap. Join me in Hexen 2 + Heretic 2 prayer circle instead of projects like these.

I just wanted to say that most of the reviews that gave this a negative based on all the key notes of level design, character movement, etc. are honestly the folks that never played the original release on the 3DO or Playstation where all those particular pieces were astoundingly worse. What Nightdive did here was incredible updating the game ever so slightly to be used in the modern era while keeping most of the super jank of the original release. This was a game I really wanted to play again for a long long time, just on how weird and wacky it was and I mentioned them on twitter a month before release "hey Nightdive, know what would be funny? Remastering PO'ed" cause I knew no one would ever touch this game or pick it up out of curosity. But low and behold they proved me wrong and dropped this on April Fool's day. So now I can relive the childhood game and finally beat the damn thing. I don't know why some reviewers here are calling this "mediocre" or even "above average". This is a worthless waste of time, which is exactly what I expected, so I can't say I was disappointed. Only buy this if you know what you're getting yourself into. This is a game from the time before the conventions for how a game should be were established, so one could charitably claim the devs were trying to make something different from the other FPS of that time. But in practice the levels feel like they are made by a 12 year old, and the wacky elements are far too weak to be charming. As a general rule, 90s FPS are vivid and full of character. PO'ed is undercooked and weak. This means it commits one of the worst crimes for any work of art, it's forgettable! Think of any game from the 90s you can imagine, and it's better than PO'ed. Does this game have any redeeming qualities that makes it worth your time? No.
