Utilize an array of unique weapons where some are more beneficial than others towards defeating certain enemy types.
- Every 25th wave you will encounter a tail pickup necessary for utilizing the bomb function and can be useful towards blocking enemy bullets and swiping away enemy swarms.
- Additionally 0-3 perks have a chance at spawning that will boost many aspects of one's playthrough such as stronger bombs and enhancing powerup abilities.
- Experience points are gathered via destroying enemies, collecting multiplier gems, and completing objectives within a certain amount of time.

What Steam players say
Recent verbatim reviews from Steam — separate from playze.io community reviews below.
Players praise 1000 Waves as a hidden gem that successfully blends twin-stick shooter mechanics with roguelike progression, offering engaging bullet-hell gameplay with satisfying unlock systems and a helpful catch-up mechanic for continuing runs. The game is compared favorably to Geometry Wars for its addictive gameplay loop that works well for both extended sessions and casual time-killing, though some players feel the core formula is relatively straightforward without major innovation beyond combining existing successful genres.
I'm playing Steam games in alphabetical order and you can watch my review here: https://youtu.be/F98dnLySPIg Prefer to read? 1000 Waves is an actual hidden gem. If you're a fan of twin stick shooters, buy it now. Combining rogue-lite and bullet-hell style mechanics you'll slowly progress through 1000 waves of enemies, slowly unlocking new weapon types and enemy types, new stage hazards, new power ups and more, all while completing time challenges to earn additional pickups. You'll also slowly increase the size of your tail that you can swing into nearby enemies. If the 1000 waves sounds daunting, never fear, there is a catch-up mechanic where after completing a percentage of your highest wave count you'll have the ability to skip ahead to your highest wave to continue making progress. My only complaint is that the final boss feels too spongy and would benefit from having the HP pool reduced. Everything else was pure hypnotic goodness, and I'm glad I stumbled upon this hidden gem.50 found this helpful
It's a Geometry Wars roguelike, need I say more? Geometry Wars is already a great game for killing time, combine that with the addictiveness of a roguelite and you have a pretty solid game.1 found this helpful
