About 网瘾少年2005 Internet addicted youth 2005
Game Introduction

"Internet Addicted Youth 2005" is a narrative-driven role-playing game that seamlessly integrates various scenario-appropriate gameplay elements. In this game, you will embody Wang Xiaoleng, a high school student addicted to the internet, and revisit the criticisms faced by teachers, classmates, and parents towards internet addiction and gaming in the early 2000s. Witnessing the downfall of fellow "addicts" around him, you must help Wang Xiaoleng reassess his aspirations and make his own choices at the crossroads of life.
The story unfolds in a small county town in 2005, coinciding with the publication of the article "When Teenagers Fall into the Web." This triggered a nationwide uproar in universities and colleges, leading to a crackdown on online gaming. Every teacher and parent viewed computer games as akin to poison or ferocious beasts. Against this backdrop, you will take on the role of the protagonist, Wang Xiaoleng, embarking on a unique journey as an internet-addicted teenager. Face the suppression of online activities by school teachers, brutal school violence, and oppression from local hooligans, directly confronting the bleak life of an internet-addicted youth. In this environment, is it more important to hold onto your original beliefs? Or is it more crucial to conform and be a model student, obedient to the wishes of parents and teachers? It's all up to you to decide for Wang Xiaoleng.
Key Features of the Game:

■ Revisit the social atmosphere of the early 21st century, confronting once again the criticisms of teachers, classmates, and parents towards internet addiction and gaming during that time.
■ Enjoy engaging custom WarCraft III-inspired battles, taking you on a journey through the world of e-sports in 2005 through mini-games.
■ Character state switching with an intriguing stealth mechanism, allowing for varied interactions with different personalities and NPCs.
■ Platforming elements and light puzzle-solving gameplay for added challenge and excitement.
■ Dramatic plot twists that keep you on the edge of your seat.
■ A simple yet charming pixel art style that evokes nostalgia.
■ An estimated gameplay duration of 3-4 hours, providing a concise yet immersive experience.

Closing Remarks
The original script of "Internet Addicted Youth 2005" centered around the inspirational theme of esports, with the choice of the year 2005 being inspired by Sky's victory at the WCG that year. However, later on, I realized that the protagonist shouldn't merely stand on the podium, he was also my hero for daring to take a step forward in that era, in that very moment. Hence, this version of "Internet Addicted Teenager 2005" emerged – a story that may not be as inspiring, but undoubtedly brave.
I hope this story can transport you back to those years and touch your heart. Furthermore, I would like to pay tribute to the earliest batch of unsung heroes in the world of esports.

This is the type of game I want to see more often. Strange, deeply personal retro-inspired narrative jank that feels like the author gutted the depths of their psyche and spilled it all out for everyone to play. The mix of melodrama, gory violence, and surreal dream sequences really captured what I want from these sorts of stories. The translation is sometimes wonky and there's a bizarre Snake style mini-game that replaces Warcraft 3(?!?), but those that can suspend the desire to be corrective and their own disbelief will be rewarded with a truly unique narrative. Being American I will never know what it was like to be a Chinese student who got scolded for going to internet cafes, and I'm not even sure if this game really is a reliable resource for understanding, but either way the world painted here is so vivid. Little bits of 2005 Chinese pop culture are shared by various NPCs, others discuss their desires through the voices of aughts teenagers. It didn't make me nostalgic, but I could feel the dev torn between love of and animosity towards their adolescent experience. This is totally worth $2.6 found this helpful

Developed and published by KayKay工作室, 2005: Internet Addicted Youth is a story-driven RPG that transports players back to a defining period in the early internet era, when online cafés became second homes for many teenagers and concerns over gaming addiction dominated conversations among parents and educators. Rather than treating the subject as a simple moral lesson, the game builds a heartfelt coming-of-age narrative centered on Wang Xiaoleng, a high school student whose fascination with the digital world gradually shapes his relationships, ambitions, and future. By grounding its story in the social realities of 2005, the game offers a thoughtful look at a generation experiencing the rapid rise of internet culture for the first time. The narrative is the heart of the experience, unfolding through exploration, conversations, environmental storytelling, and a variety of interactive gameplay sequences. Instead of relying heavily on combat or complex RPG systems, the game encourages players to immerse themselves in the protagonist's everyday life. School responsibilities, friendships, family conflicts, and endless hours spent inside internet cafés all become interconnected pieces of…
