*Achievement Lurker: You Are Going to Have to Work for These Nuts* is a title that immediately signals its intentions through its name alone. Instead of presenting itself as a traditional RPG or adventure, it leans into an intentionally absurd premise that revolves more around the spectacle of achievement hunting than any meaningful narrative or gameplay depth. The setup places you in control of Jacob, a lone figure wandering through a dark, surreal forest in search of “nuts,” though the objective is less an actual story beat and more a framing device for a series of loosely connected encounters. The world is built out of simple, minimalist assets that evoke the feel of a quick RPGMaker project, and the moment-to-moment experience reflects this: short bouts of exploration, a few turn-based encounters, and abrupt transitions between areas. Everything feels stitched together just well enough to function, but never developed enough to immerse. The combat and exploration systems mimic those of low-complexity RPGs—turn-based battles, basic attack commands, a rudimentary experience system, and small pockets of enemies scattered across a map. GGs only!
Apparently there’s an actual game here… but I wouldn’t know. I didn’t play a single second of it. I literally switched it on, left the room, waited two hours, and bam 5000 achievements injected straight into my account like some sort of Steam approved hack. So yeah, the “game” might exist, but the only thing I experienced was the achievement flood. If you’re looking for gameplay, story, or anything remotely meaningful, you may be in the wrong place. But if you just want your achievement total to explode while you do absolutely nothing? This is peak efficiency. Turn it on, walk away, return as a champion. Effort: 0/10 Achievement count: 5000/10
