About Arkheim - Realms at War

Team up in a Realm of 15 for a ten week long strategic battle across the rediscovered flying Islands of Arkheim to conquer the Eternal Light! In this free to play team based strategy MMO each game round feels different and gives you a new chance to band together and go for victory.

You will start each round on a level playing field, competing with other player Realms for resources, territory and ascension. Your village will support the war efforts of your Realm with resources and a multitude of troops as well as valuable Warlord equipment gained from the vast dungeons. The real battle, however, is fought on the strategic real time map on each island, where your armies clash in epic battles. Here you do not only build up your own Realm, but also raid Orbs, conquer towers and fight wars against others to dominate the island.

With each Moon Phase, the most successful Realms can conquer Ascension Gates and move to a higher island, where more competition, but also more valuable resources essential for the final battle during the epic endgame phase await. In this last all out war, you reawaken all your fallen soldiers to send them against the vile demons holding the Eternal Anvils, all the wile your enemies move to destroy you forever.

✦ AI summary

Players have sharply divided opinions on this game. Critics condemn it as a pay-to-win cash grab with dead servers, poor optimization, and aggressive monetization that feels like a scam, while also raising privacy concerns about the third-party account requirement. Defenders acknowledge the steep learning curve and sandbox RPG mechanics can be engaging for those willing to invest time, and argue the monetization is not prohibitively pay-to-win, though they concede the game requires significant community resources to learn and has suffered from server issues and lack of updates since early 2022

I really wanted to give this game a positive review. Co-Op games are very hard to find. In all good faith I can not recommend the game to anyone. Says Early Access and no new content been introduced since May 2022. Server is laggy. The few positive reviews all say best free to play game ever. That turns out to be a big fat lie. No shock or surprise there. The only thing missing is a big giant red button that simply says win for X amount of money. You want more building cranes for your town spend money. I mean I kept spending my free starter gems and got 7 up and running. I did not stop because I could not buy more but thought 7 was enough. A certain portion of your living slain units become dead warriors to fight in the dungeon. You travel a path down there and win against opponents. Each time there is a random roll of 5 possible rewards. You don't like the rewards guess what just spend gems to reroll. You want to speed up the timers in your town big surprise you can with gems. You want to unlock premium army commanders you can for gems. The list goes on and on. Game is extremely boring even for a browser based RTS city builder. You either fight against PVE gobli…

The game is good, and here's why I think that. It starts off slow but the more you do every kind of activity, the better you get at it. It's like a sandbox RPG in an RTS setting, and to me that's pretty cool! There is no activity too big or too small in terms of progression, all you need is to read the discord's guides and talk to people, as the game has somewhat of a steep learning curve. It will keep you moderately busy or fully engaged depending on what tasks you choose to do at the time. There is a cash shop but I think it doesnt imbalance the game. What free games want to survive and improve without monetization, right? I spent $1, joined the most recent world 5 days late, and I can somewhat be useful and compete even playing catch up or having very aggressive neighbours. You compete against other players and their strategies, and also against the clock if you really want to play competitively. I'd give the game 7-8/10 just based on the learning curve and strategies involved.
Warning: Third Party Account This game requires you to create a third party "Arkheim - Realms at War" account... there's no valid reason for this in a PC game when SteamWorks is available. This is often done to harvest private data and profile you, with potential sale and transmission of your private data to third parties. The developers will probably argue that you can trust them, but if they were trustworthy they wouldn't demand you create a third party account. This represents a considerable risk to gamers due to the privacy and security implications of developers that wish to bypass Steam and harvest user data. Remember, sometimes if the product is free, YOU are the product.

Warning: Microtransaction infested mobile app! This mobile app is infested with a toxic mobile app cash shop. You will be prompted to and expected to give money to the developers through this cash shop to buy in-game goods so you can play the mobile app.
"Arkheim - Realms at War" is one of thousands of nasty mobile apps infesting the "free" section of Steam, but it's not really free.
