Blade of Arena - 劍鬥界域

I have updated this review on May 21st 2021's update as I felt there was something particularly important to say about the new floating islands and its multiplayer. A game of survival in an open world with combat centered around close combat using bladed weapons (hence the title). Yes, even hammers; their blades just don't cut but beat your nose out of your face instead. As someone who had already been bugtesting the game for months before the Early Release, here is my review: -I find there to be a good deal of customization within the game. It starts in the menu where you can edit your character on various options. Most that can be colored uses a color wheel, which allows you to get a very specific shade of any color. It continues into the game as you get to make clothes and color them as well, though its most meaningful instance is the weapon designer: you can make your own weapon part by part, and each part can be resized, be made of a material you choose and colored as you like, changing stats as it is being created. A lot has been done and implemented but it’s still lacking any real polish or optimization. Visually it reminds me of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Genshin Impact. A lot of features are currently present: character and weapon customization, crafting as well as a work in progress open world demo. There is a dungeon creator with the option to explore player generated dungeons and a PvP arena but with only US and Asia servers as options currently. I’m not sure if its release wasn’t a bit premature, even for Early Access. I still see some Unity Store assets being used. I guess those are placeholders? I can recognize them because I’ve seen them in other Unity games. I see there is a roadmap of things to be improved or added. The asking price isn’t that high currently but it still remains to be seen if it will be worth it. I couldn’t try too much of it. My machine didn’t handle the Open World demo that well and the weapon creation menu didn’t fit my 5:4 screen properly so I couldn’t make a weapon. Some…

this is a really cool idea for a game i hope it dose well more people need to see this game

I found this game very interesting. I was exited to try it out but it really didnt match my expactations. First of all it doesnt work with my keyboard (german) and i cant change that. so i cannot finish the quests. then i tried to oin a server, pvp or dungeon map but it didnt work. I tried multiple settings. So i i thought i ust try the dungeon map creator but the funament really annoyed the ♥♥♥♥ out of me, because it kept changing the hights of my already set tiles. Its really buggy and i coundt get a decent dungeon. So i had to rage quit. Furthermore i had a bug in a cave: Monsters kept spawning and the cave filled up so much that it became laggy. This game might be worth the 3 € i spent, but not more. I hope the dev will fix and improve this game. Then I might be able to continue my quests and build a house.

been playing for a little bit. Love where it's headed, combat is nice, weapon builder is nice, dungeon builder is nice. The community is the only thing, i can't find 1v1 or 8 player brawls too often. But, nonetheless, keep it up. i enjoy playing dungeons others create. hopefully there's more people that'll take the time to play this hidden gem.
