Bodyrain is a straightforward zombie shooter that I enjoyed mainly because it does not waste much time getting to the action. I play as a bounty hunter entering the ruined streets of Dawn City, where a failed scientific experiment has turned the population into zombies. The premise is familiar, but the hand drawn visual style and fast combat give it enough personality to stand on its own. The shooting is the strongest part for me. I have access to different weapons and grenades while dealing with groups of zombies that behave differently from one another. I liked the pace because the game constantly gives me something to react to, and the larger groups make positioning just as important as aiming. The progression also gives me a reason to keep fighting. I earn money from clearing areas and can use it to improve my weapons, while experience lets me strengthen my character. I enjoyed that loop because stronger equipment makes it possible to take on tougher encounters without completely removing the danger. The bosses are another useful change of pace. Regular zombies can eventually start feeling predictable, so having more demanding encounters gives the campaign some stronger mome…

The art style is fantastic, and I’ll probably keep coming back to check out new updates. It’s a simple single-player wave-based zombie survival game where you level up and collect money to improve your gear. Really fun, and I’m excited to see what new content the devs add!
