About Chaos of East

✦ AI summary

Players praise this hack-and-slash roguelike for its engaging progression system, short replayable stages, intuitive gameplay, and thematic Chinese mythology setting that stands out from typical Western roguelikes. Common complaints include limited content with only six stages, some weapon attack animations causing movement issues, imbalanced character and weapon combinations, and occasional melee hitbox problems, though most feel the game has solid potential with reasonable pricing.

This is a good hack and slash game. If you like progressive type of game then look no further. It is challenge enough that you want to come back to try to stay alive longer to collect more souls to purchase upgrade. This game has the right potential to be a great game. I enjoy playing this game a lot, a job well done to the developer. I look forward to more good games from you. Keep up the good work. The price for this game is reasonable.

Pro: 1) Easy to master and play, tutorial can be completed within a few minutes 2) Good for time-killing since each stage is short and the game can be stopped halfway and continue later 3) Progressive increasing difficulty stage Con: 1) Weapon like gloves/fan/crescent blade make the character propel forward during the attack, somehow difficult to complete the whole combination of attack 2) Only 6 stages available, honestly to tell : the game is quite short Overall is a good old fashion retro hack slash game with a little RPG-like power up stat. Well done, looking forwards your next game. (P/S: for new comers, i beat the game with lightning sword)

Chaos of East is a bold and visually striking action roguelike that embraces Chinese mythology as the foundation for its world and design. Developed by Lingjian Studio and published by CubeGame, it sets itself apart from the flood of Western-inspired roguelikes by building its structure and aesthetic around the concept of the six realms of reincarnation. Rather than following the traditional formula of randomly generated dungeon rooms, the game opts for a single, continuous path through each of its six major levels, representing the cyclical nature of life, death, and rebirth. This choice gives the adventure a sense of thematic cohesion, tying gameplay progression to spiritual symbolism. From the first moment, the game presents a fusion of ancient mysticism and modern action sensibilities, offering players a chance to explore a world steeped in Chinese legends while engaging in intense, fast-paced combat. At its heart, Chaos of East revolves around a mix of side-scrolling action and roguelike mechanics. Each run begins with the selection of a character inspired by figures from ancient Chinese mythology and folklore. Every hero comes equipped with both an active and passive ability…

Fun game, could use more tutorials about the mechanics, but altogether really intuitive. Characters/Weapons combos seem a bit imbalanced at the moment, but maybe that's just my playstyle. Basically, if you can get a ranged weapon, keep it, because melee hitboxes are a bit dodgy. Feels like a really great arcade game from the 90's like Dungeons and Dragons/Romance of the Three Kingdoms.
