Decided to make this review now as I realized I had never did so. I first played this game 4 days after it became free to play earlier this year, and I think that this game is pretty good. I streamed the game for my first time playthrough, and the developer, Destrakz, was in a call with me for some of the stream as well! Good game, great dev. Looking forward to what Destrakz makes next!

sleeper game reminiscent of undertale fun quick playthrough

Cloaks and Capes is a stylish little action game that caught my attention with its mix of dark fantasy, platforming and bullet hell combat. I play as Cloaker, a grieving caster trying to resurrect his son after a devastating attack on the town of Castriel. I liked how the revenge story gives the otherwise fast paced action a bit of emotional weight. The combat is the strongest part for me. I can attack enemies with different patterns, move through the air with jumps and a dash, and collect powerups that change how powerful my attacks become. I enjoyed the constant movement because standing still is usually a bad idea, especially when enemies start filling the screen with attacks. The roguelite elements also add a nice sense of progression. As I move through the game, I gain experience and powerups that make Cloaker stronger, while different attack patterns let me approach encounters in different ways. I liked experimenting with these choices because certain attacks can feel much more useful depending on what I am fighting. The level structure gives the adventure a strong sense of scale. free, and awesome simple controls and goes by fast it is a cool game has crisp simplicity not much else to say, its cool .:)

Very fun game! Worth trying out as it won't let you down :) 8/10
