Games I would compare this one to Amnesia (Dark Descent, The Bunker), Alien: Isolation Unique Mechanic In this game, you have to use wood (timber) found throughout the map to create cover in hiding spots (under tables, in crates, through doorways). Do not make the mistake I did and try to build cover as the monster is walking into a room. The monster will break it and kill you. On Normal difficulty, there is plenty of wood... if you don't build cover literally every time the monster breathes. Good Story Pay attention to the cutscenes and notes found throughout the map. The story is easy to follow along if you are paying attention. It's similar to stories I've heard before, but it has enough added to it that it doesn't feel like the same stuff they feed in most horror games. It's harder to explain it without spoiling, so buy the game and play it! Voice Acting In an age where many games use AI voices, this is not one of them. The voices are done by voice actors (yay!). Most of the notes are not read by anyone, so do not be afraid of any robot-sounding voices reading you thrilling notes. The voice acting is done very…2 found this helpful
What I didn’t expect was how much the story would resonate. The themes of manipulation and narcissistic abuse are woven into everything — the monster, the castle, Dorinela’s whole journey. It uses horror to say something real, and that’s rare. Recommended1 found this helpful
This game surprised me! I had this one for quite sometime and never played it but then finally did and was blown away! Dont skip on this game. It is so good and terrifying! Loved every minute of chapter 1. Now moving on to Chapter 2!1 found this helpful
Played the demo a while ago and really liked the concept and mechanics, so I decided to give the (almost) full game a try now that Chapter 2 released. I enjoyed it a lot! The environments are beautifully built, the visuals look great, the sound design and voice acting are solid, and the story hooked me within the first few minutes. Looking forward to Chapter 3!1 found this helpful
At the time of writing I finished two chapters that are out and I must say I liked this game, it scratches the itch if you want old school horror indie game. What I liked most was cinematic art beautifully painted, soundtrack which is simple piano one but works perfectly with combination of the sole character surviving the dangers of the castle and last but not least was performance of voice actors especially Dorinella. When it comes to environment it was good sometimes even great in case of some set pieces. Monsters were serviceable first appearances were handled really well and thanks to the length of the game they don't get old. Length is also pro in my view, I dont need bloated games, 4 hours of gameplay is well worth if its full of content (especially story) which this is and price definitely compliments that. Story is unique and fine, I don't see any problem with it but its hard to rate it when the whole game is not out. Horror aspect is great, I love horror games where you dont have fighting only some kind of defense because then you feel the tension of barely surviving. I was looking for a long time for a game that reminds me of Amnesia series and this scratched the…
An indie developer horror game set in a nicely atmospheric castle environment. The game features good lighting and a creepy moody throughout, so you never feel settled. Features an interesting story, and some neat features. It's creepy, with a good 'helpless' feel, so if Amnesia or Outlast do it for you, this would suit your taste. It's also a suitable game for those new to horror, who want to dip their feet. It's not easy, nor too difficult, and will make a good game on full release. Note: Early access, but saw no bugs - so looking good!
