Strange character choice for an underwater adventure, but ok, no prob with a little surrealism. Then the graphics look like a placeholder - no prob with minimalism, but... no reason to feed players straight trash as well. The worst thing - motion & aiming feel unpleasant, uneasy, imprecise, which is a mortal sin for the genre. Plus, why referencing the genius Downwell? Is it some sort of teenage humor? Bad tone of cheap parody, f off.

DOWNMOUSE is an arcade game. Fun little arcade game where you dig deeper and have to survive a very unforgiving stage. The price asked is a little too high for a single stage and the limited content offered here, but the game is fun and challenging. You have to avoid monsters, explosive rocks which are sometimes needed when you dig deeper and you are in constant danger with the rushing water ominously coming down on top of your head. The game offers some alternative challenges with achievements, such as reaching 5,000 score without being hit or reaching a score of 5,000 without using your dash ability. It's really a shame that the game only has one stage and a very repetitive soundtrack, because the controls are very responsive and fluid, making for a fun and snappy experience. Overall, I recommend this short arcade game if it goes on sale!

Simple game, really simple mechanics, and surprisingly good hitboxes. The only annoying part is everything about the bull enemy.

Simple and engaging, but could use some more variety. In particular, the cave generation seems to pick from a rather small selection of pre-made segments.

DOWNMOUSE, developed and published by WobblyHandStudio, is a compact arcade-style descent game that embraces immediacy, repetition, and sharp reflexes as its core identity. It takes a simple premise — a mouse plunging deeper and deeper into a labyrinth of procedurally generated caves — and shapes it into a fast, skill-driven experience meant to be played in repeated short bursts. There are no elaborate systems layered atop the core loop; instead, the game focuses on delivering quick, adrenaline-tinged runs where survival depends on how well you dodge enemies, navigate tight underground spaces, and take advantage of the limited power-ups that appear along the way. This minimalist focus allows it to serve as an instant pick-up-and-play title for players who enjoy tightly controlled, reflex-heavy challenges without the overhead of complex progression systems. The game’s design revolves around forward momentum. As the mouse descends, the screen fills with increasingly aggressive enemies, unpredictable patterns of hazards, and occasional opportunities to mine through soft walls for resources or alternate pathways. The tension builds quickly — DOWNMOUSE rarely gives you a moment to brea…

Absolutely loved playing this game, going from not being able to get over 3k points to ending with 13K and being in the top 3 players feels amazing. Also as someone who likes 100%ing a game all achievements have good criteria unlike some games that have horrible grindy achievements. 9/10 would recommend
