FZDDR

FZDDR is a very silly little arcade game, and I think the ridiculous idea is a big part of its appeal. I play as a newborn chaos demon from Hell that also happens to be a flying zombie dinosaur with a chainsaw for a tail. My job is basically to survive for as long as I can while avoiding horrible looking obstacles, dealing with other demons and collecting Chaos Coins. It is completely free and it does not try to pretend that it is some huge adventure. It knows it is a small arcade game and keeps things simple. The main gameplay is all about movement and survival. I have to fly through the side scrolling levels while avoiding the demonic flesh obstacles around me, and I can use the chainsaw tail to cut through enemies that get in my way. I like that the weapon is built into the character because it makes the game feel a little different from a normal obstacle dodging game. I am not completely helpless while trying to survive, so there is a bit of action mixed into the basic arcade formula. There are also power ups that give me useful advantages during a run.
