"Gaze at Maze" has definitely no promising title. And the fact that the word "maze" is repeated like 20 times in a single Steam store page too made me think at first glance of this one as a failed indie attempt.. Well, it's really indie - the whole game is the result of the work of a single man, Anamik Majumdar, whom my historian senses tell me he comes from India. I love India! The game has a partial controller support - unluckily, I didn't make it out with my old light one.. clicking on the controls menu shows you a nice graphical introduction to all the buttons and such, but my controller wasn't answering well and yeah, all in all it's "partial support" so I went on with my keyboard. I usually play with a XBOX controller, the menu says right "XBOX 360 controller" so maybe it's because I was trying to play with another one this time.. I don't have that controller here in my room right now so I can just say that my cheap one wasn't working =P The keys are WASD, or the directional keys, stop. Yeah.. Anyways, you're right into the action from the very start - you'll play as a boy in a maze, with some health points shown on the upper part of the screen and your objectives on the lo…16 found this helpful
like how you gonna make a game that looks like this tr*sh and just call it "old school"7 found this helpful
Gaze At Maze is a template flip from Anamik Majumdar, who keeps reskinning the same lame GameMaker Studio game template and re-releasing it on Steam with a few minor changes. The GameMaker Studio template he keeps re-releasing is just a basic retro pixel (couldn't he rip off a template with proper graphics??) 2D top down stealth/action game. Here's some other results of his copy+paste school of "game development":

Haunted Jail: Alcatas
Ghost in the Barn House
Gaze at Maze
Smash Halloween Pumpkins: The Challenge
The Chills
Gregor Hills Haunted Hospital
Jaxon The Thief
House Number 666
My Haunted Doll
Axizon Labs: Zombies
The Haunted Exmone Theatre
Rescue Rina
The Haunted Tunnel
Heltons Haunted Hotel
These are all basically the exact same GameMaker Studio game template with a different skin and a couple of things changed. No professional effort was made in terms of game development, using a game construction kit requires no game development talent, and unsurprisingly produces products that have little to no value as games, especially when compared to the work of professional de…3 found this helpful
Gaze At Maze developed and published by Anamik Majumdar is a small indie maze exploration game that blends puzzle navigation, light stealth elements, and retro arcade sensibilities. The game centers around guiding a young protagonist through a strange labyrinth filled with enemies, security systems, and mysterious experiments. Built with a simple top-down design and straightforward mechanics, the experience aims to recreate the feeling of classic maze games while adding a light narrative and collectible-based progression system. The story begins with a curious boy named Jack who discovers a mysterious globe hidden in a garden near his home. What initially appears to be an ordinary object quickly reveals itself to be something far more unusual. When Jack interacts with the globe, he is suddenly transported to a bizarre alternate dimension composed entirely of sprawling maze structures. This strange world is populated by robotic guardians and monstrous creatures that patrol the labyrinth as if protecting its secrets. As Jack explores deeper into the maze, he begins to uncover disturbing hints that the creatures inhabiting the world may be the result of strange scientific experiments…
