About Geras

A short horror experience, focusing on a simple but immersive story and a dark atmosphere.

In "Geras" players find themselves at the precipice of their 30th birthday, a milestone often fraught with existential dread and looming fears about the passage of time. As the clock strikes midnight on the eve of their 30th year, their deepest fears of aging manifest into a malevolent entity – a demon that relentlessly haunts them.

To survive, players must confront their fears head-on, delving deep into the darkest corners of their psyche to unravel the mystery behind the demon's origins.

"Geras" is a psychological horror game that explores themes of aging, mortality, and the fear of the unknown. With its haunting atmosphere, and storytelling, it challenges players to confront their deepest fears and emerge stronger on the other side. But beware – in the world of "Geras" not everything is as it seems, and the line between reality and nightmare blurs with each passing moment.

It offers a small, but atmospheric environment. It's a first-person walking simulator horror with some puzzle elements to complete. Explore your surroundings, that change through the progress of the storyline, and find out the truth, while something awaits you in the dark.

This is my first attempt at making a game. I have no previous experience with game development or even coding.
So I hope you enjoy. :)

Aw heck, where to start with Geras... This is legitimately a decently spoopy game. An amuse bouche(less than 30 minutes) that garnered a few screams lol. And! I learned something about mythology. Neato!! XD But!! * The lack of an escape menu so that I can adjust the volume/resolution/brightness, etc., is a problem. I had to open the volume mixer in the systray to turn it down and I had to open the control panel for AMD to turn the brightness up. Nobody should have to do these things to make the game playable. * It suffers from some graphical troubles/glitches that can be frustrating to deal with. You've got to shimmy and strafe to be able to interact with some of the objects. The bottom drawers of furniture were tricky to get open. * Not much guidance. Walking sims rely heavily on physical or time-based triggers to advance game progress. It is of the utmost importance that there are visual or audio cues to give whoever is playing the game some sort of indication of what to do next. * The movement is so slow that you feel constipated. * Did I mention that it was too dark? Well, it's worth mentioning a second time. I got stuck because I had no idea that I had opened a dra…

As an avid horror game player, I wanted to really dig for games to play. Then I came across this. This game gives me chills. The atmosphere of the game is truly horrifying. The ambiance to the visuals is spectacular. Don't even get me started with the game itself. I wish I never even played this game... do you know how many pairs of pants i soiled??? too many. The jump scares in this game are right on point! Every last one of them had me in their clutches. Moral of the story, no matter how many horror games you play, this one will always scare you. 5/5

10 minute nothing burger stretched out to 30 minutes because of the absolutely god awful speed. The main character is supposed to be 30 and worrying about his mortality, but he moves about as fast as a 112 year old invalid with one foot in the grave. Story doesn't actually explore anything the description mentions, he's just cursed to die at 30 because evil book demon. On top of all that this is one of those games that just relies extremely heavily on triggers in order to progress, triggers that are unmarked and not properly guided towards as you fumble around in circles trying to get the next ♥♥♥♥♥♥ jumpscare to play so you can move another half an inch along in the plot. Waste of time.

This game was a lot of fun 'after' I found the flashlight. It was nearly impossible, too dark until then.. so find that flashlight! Even with the light source I tried to avoid some places which gave me the creeps but it was impossible. Tried to hide lol but the game stops, you have to keep going. It was very good, very scary, and creepy. I wish I could have run but I was destined to only walk a snails pace which made me that much more anxious. Nicely played!!
