Ginseng Hero, developed by Sokpop Collective in collaboration with Tom van den Boogaart and published by Sokpop Collective, is a compact action-adventure that distills classic swordplay into a charming miniature world inhabited by insects. True to Sokpop’s reputation for small, experimental titles with strong conceptual identities, the game embraces brevity while delivering a surprisingly tactile and engaging combat system. At its center is a humble beetle protagonist embarking on a personal quest to obtain a cure for a loved one, giving the adventure a simple yet emotionally grounded motivation. The world of Ginseng Hero is framed from the perspective of a tiny creature navigating oversized natural environments. Blades of grass loom like trees, mushrooms tower like buildings, and everyday garden terrain becomes an expansive landscape. Great concept, great gameplay, great artstyle, world, characters and music BUT it crashes and doesn't save your data at all. This is why the review is negative, since you can't progress normally without a transiton screen freezing the game.

This is a very short and basic (as always with Sokpop) combat-exploration game. This game feels like it should have been a roguelike, since your goal is to complete a "run", without dying, by exploring, unlocking new paths and one tool, and you keep your health upgrades, your currencies and can chose to keep one of your weapons upon death (if you finish the game, all progress is lost, though), but sadly, the environment and enemies are completely static and will always remain the same, which makes the game VERY repetitive. Despite what the devs claim, the combat system is not physics-based, the animations are. Combat is acceptable, but far from great, it's too floaty and unclear. It's nowhere near as funny as I would have hoped, picturing in my head a physics-based combat system with physics-based animations as advertised, which is false. The inventory system doesn't work properly. You can have 3 weapons, and if you want to pick up a new one, you'll have to drop the weapon in your hands, but instead of dropping the equipped weapon, the game just seems to drop any random weapon from my inventory instead, making it a chore to pick up something, on top of the fact that you have to go…
