Grab & Run | Alpaca Party is a silly little VR extraction game that I think gets most of its fun from how physical everything feels. I am going into randomly generated areas, grabbing valuable stuff and trying to get it back out while monsters are wandering around. The basic idea is very simple. I enter a room, find something worth taking, load it onto a cart and try to make it back safely. It sounds straightforward, but the physics can turn even a simple trip back into a complete mess. The physics are easily my favourite part. Objects have actual weight, so I cannot just throw everything around like it has no mass. I have to push carts, move heavy items and deal with things flying off when I move too quickly. I like this because it creates funny situations without needing the game to force jokes on me. Even getting loot back to the extraction point can become a little challenge when the cart starts behaving badly or I am carrying too much. The randomised maps also give the main loop some replay value. Rooms, routes and monster placements can change between runs, so I have to explore instead of memorising one perfect route. Great game, but no support for Vive wand controllers Grab & Run | Alpaca Party is a good game, and I can see why people enjoy it. However, I have to give a negative review because this game does not support the standard HTC Vive wand controllers. Sadly, I cannot play it properly. Sorry 😔.
