It's kinda funny how there's at least two FPS games taking place in WW1, both with a heavier focus on action and also have zombies, while also having some flaws. Haunted: Attack of the Dead Men is a Retro FPS developed by GameBeast Productions. It follows a unnamed German soldier in the Great War. While doing the obvious plan during that time of not dying, stumbles across seemingly a sprouting zombie presence. As such it's up to them to fight tooth and nail through horde of undead while trying to discover what caused this outbreak. The game manages to represent it's setting pretty successfully with fitting gameplay to boot that mixes both trench warfare with the usual faster pace that retro FPS games usually capitalize on. It's when the game leans away from that basis is when it starts to rock the boat poorly. Gameplay wise, Haunted has the classic Retro FPS structure. Featuring level by level progression, complete with lots of enemies, plenty secrets to find, and in-general some nonlinear elements in the level design. spoiler warning!!!!! writing whilest at level 9 ive had this game rot in my library for a LONG time, but recently i decided to play and it was very worth it. the combats really fun, like, really fun, but the game suffers from UNBELIEAVBLE power creep. for almost the entire late game i only used the revolver shotgun, n flamethrower because theyre just objectively the best weapons, the luger could potentially be up there but it has like 5 ammo per stage so i opted to never use it. the sword is absolutely busted as when you use its alt move your just invincible to everything but flames and explosions??? with that all said, the enemies are used quite fairly , theres a perfect balance of everyone and all the enemies are really balanced. the game does suffer from major level design flaws, though i dont really get the level 4 hate i found it quite easy, but the key hunting gets unbearable at times. honestly hard to say pros but they are there in the gameplay, its 100% a flawed game but god is it a good flawed game, 100% worth a buy if on sale or maybe at full price 12 bucks isnt too bad, you should 100% play the demo if you think the game looks any cool tho side note: the story the…

I wish I could give this a neutral rating. The setting, levels and weapons are cool and unique for the boom shoot genre. Unfortunately the levels become very big and confusing. Especially the ones that don't let you have a map for some reason. Health is very hard to come by and you lose it very quickly. I like the art direction and weapons though. Just wish the level design was a bit better.

The graphics menu is non-functional. The game defaults to the wrong monitor, and no settings can change that. Other settings that don't work include windowed/fullscreen (in case you wanted to make it windowed and drag it to the correct monitor) and the resolution setting doesn't work either.
