About Helix

Helix is a low-poly multiplayer FPS Hero-Shooter with MOBA-like Mechanics. During gameplay you will play as (currently) one of three characters: Aca, the red sound character specialized in close combat audio-visual attacks, Radon, the green smell character specialized in fast-moving prey-stalking combat through his heightened sense of smell, and Vision, the blue sight character specialized in long-range sniping combat, enhanced thanks to his improved owl-like sight. During a match, you will have to kill your opponents and steal their DNA to unlock and upgrade your abilities which will give you an edge against anyone standing in your way. There are (currently) two main modes, deathmatch, where through the use of your abilities you will have to kill the most amount of players, or team-deathmatch, which starts off as a normal team fight, but later evolves into a king-of-the-hill, where players with the most abilities will be able to unlock an area to capture. Through the unlock and upgrade of skills during the match and a dynamic game mode. Helix is trying to pursue a mix of FPS with MOBA-like mechanics.
Note: Dead PvP game This game contains no meaningful single player content. There are no available servers and no player population. This game cannot be played as intended.
Helix is a dead PvP game. Why did it fail? Almost every PvP exclusive game on Steam fails. Only a tiny proportion of them "go viral". This game failed for many of the same reasons those others fail. The chief of which is the developer thinking that their game will "go viral" without actually creating any reason for it do so. Competition amongst PvP centric games is extreme, and there's only a finite player base to appeal to. This game failed to reach any kind of critical mass and died as a result. Let's go into some of the reasons this particular game failed to appeal to gamers, despite the zero up front cost. First and foremost, there's no meaningful single player content. The developer gambled that other players would be an acceptable substitute for adding storytelling, level design etc to the game. They lost that bet. Without a huge community of players or single player content to add a lasting value to the game, the game dies. Developers must learn that other play…

I know the developer, unfortunately. I've been playing this game since it was just an alpha and you could recover health with the H key. After three years, I opened the game in front of the developer and he said, “Wow, I don't remember doing that.” The only comment I'll leave is DISAPPOINTED FRIED CHICKEN. 10/10
