Premise This review reflects my personal experience with the game. While I aim to write thoughtfully and as fairly as possible, my reviews are subjective in nature and should not be used as objective metrics to assess/critique a game. I also curate a steam group which focusses on reviewing BL/Bara/MxM VNs. Most characters have very similar body types, poses and overall presentation, which makes the gallery start blending together fairly quickly. That said, the artwork itself is not bad. Some illustrations are nicely drawn and the general visual quality is decent enough for a low-budget puzzle title. I just wish there had been more variety and personality across the image selection. You see this game and think "this is a funny game to gift my friend while it's on sale for 49 cents." then he gets a couple hours on it and you make fun of him. that's a double standard. you bought him the game, he played it. you can't be mad he just made sure to complete every puzzle to 100% this game and goes back to it every once in a while to enjoy it's classic gameplay that has defined the dev's work from the start. Speaking of the dev, hentaix, while naughty girl did get a sequel, the devs dropped off the map after releasing what I consider to be their biggest hit; hentai boy. I'd like to see the story and rich environmental backdrops continue and evolve into the next era. In my opinion, Hentai boy has the bone work to be a genre defining game, but it's devs have left it to die. Amazing writing, innovative puzzle gameplay, and the best art direction in the last 40 years of any game, a wonderful team like hentaix, all of this is hentai boy. we need hentai boy 2. if someone buys you this game, idle it to the number 1 spot in all your games while in college, but don't pay any money for this.2 found this helpful
Hentai Boy is a deliberately low-pressure, adult-themed puzzle game that leans into simplicity, relaxation, and presentation rather than challenge or narrative ambition. Developed and published by Hentai X, the game positions itself clearly within the niche of casual jigsaw-style puzzle titles, using mature illustrations as both motivation and reward while emphasizing a calm, almost meditative pace. From the outset, it makes no attempt to disguise its intentions or broaden its appeal beyond its target audience, instead focusing on delivering a straightforward experience built around gentle interaction and visual gratification. The gameplay revolves around assembling image-based puzzles by swapping and placing pieces into their correct positions. Controls are intuitive and forgiving, allowing players to focus entirely on the act of arranging pieces without worrying about timers, penalties, or complex mechanics. There is no sense of urgency baked into the design, and failure states are essentially nonexistent, making the experience approachable even for players who rarely engage with puzzle games. This design choice reinforces the game’s identity as a relaxation tool rather than a t…2 found this helpful
