Human Pinball : Iceage

What a bizarre game. One in a series too, which just makes it even odder. You're a robot that has been sent to some ice planet to finish a job that the human explorers failed at or something or other (you can find their skeletons around the map); you can read the backstory on the title screen if it helps. They got pretty far along with their work though as there are bridges and British traffic signs telling you where to go. There are also these 'pinball' style ball runners like on a pinball table when you fire the ball around the big loop and it comes back to the flippers hence the name of the game. The point of the game is to move three big coloured balls ("energy spheres" or whatever) navigating those runners or channels until you reach three coloured holes where the balls should go. For some reason all the humans died before they could do this themselves but then I guess there wouldn't be a game... The problem with the game is that the runners, like on a pinball table, consist of two outer rails and a middle one you walk/run along. Human Pinball : Iceage is a nothing to do with pinball, it's a third person 3D platformer where you run around a blurry arctic environment collecting blobs and returning them. What fun. Well, it might be if it was implemented well, but this isn't. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. There's an ugly screen filter meant to make the game look even more obsolete... like the game looks bad enough already, but they actually went out of their way to make it look worse. There's no way to turn this off. There's no options to change the resolution for the game or customise the graphics settings. There's no way for gamers to ensure this is running at the native resolution of their displays... there's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. There's no way for gamers to try improve the low quality graphics. The game features lazy low-polygon "retro" assets, making this look like a barely functional 3D game from the mid 2000s. I have no idea what the hell the point of this is. Absolute waste of time.
