I'm Oh, So Busy...: A Week with Yoshimi

I'm Oh, So Busy...: A Week with Yoshimi is not a game, it's an e-book that's been dumped on Steam masquerading as a game. As a visual/interactive novel, this doesn't feature any notable gameplay, it's just a lot of clicking through badly written dialogue that would never have been accepted or published in print, which poses the question, "How did something this badly written end up on Steam?". When someone hoping to become an author is unable to get published in print, they spend $100 and dump their high school fan-fiction onto Steam, under the guise of a game. This e-book was slapped together with the godawfully bad RenPy Visual Novel/E-Book construction kit, so just like no professional writing took place here, no professional game development took place either, it's just a product of filling out templates in the construction kit. This is a particularly badly written and badly plotted e-book that consists mostly of some "waifu" character talking constantly to themselves about crap. It's supposed to be a comedy/drama? It's not. I have really enjoyed my time in this game. If you like visual novel "games", this one is a definite pick up! It has a great coming of age story, that is well done. There was more voice acting than I expected! My only hesitation for recommending the game previously was that the achievements did not unlock properly; however, the dev has fixed all but one thus far and is actively working on the last one. So I wholeheartedly recommend picking this up!

(I can't mark this review as Informative- but Pretend it is, since I didn't want to Thumbs up, Or Thumbs down this) I'll admit that I don't read too many kinetic novels, so I'm a novice as far as expectations of the genre go. Still, I'll give it a shot. The Writing: Honestly, The storyline isn't -bad- as it covers Yoshimi's first week after moving to a new city. As far as protagonists go, she's earnest, well meaning (enough to work at a help hotline), and has a pretty nice apartment. Plus, a Pet Ferret, yeeeah. That said, there's a number of moments where she muses on her own failings, whether it be with impulse control, or simply not measuring up to her own standards. As experiences go, it's very -human- slice of life experience, but I never really felt deeply involved. Narratively speaking- It's just a week spent following the ups and downs of a normal person who seems a bit overwhelmed. And given the scale of the story, and how things resolve- we can't even be really sure that much is going to be changing in the long run. I can't fault the game for it's comedic beats, as some of the moments were very "I want to talk ♥♥♥♥, but nope- this seems about on the nose". To call it …

This "game" is more useless than cancer. No choices, broken achievements and only posite reviews are those that got it for free or promote their chanel. Got it for nearly free at a key shop, still it was too expensive for what you get. If you NEED it, search for the keystore for some cent, pence or whatever. It is nearly for free there.
