About Insane Insects: The Inception

STORY:The Final Conflict has ended. Earth exists no more. Following a relentless cycle of brutal engagements in which victory continued to narrowly elude the Overlords, a turning point was reached when they began to observe the characteristics of earth's most successful predators. Insect life-forms with their combination of strength, speed, aggression and durability were finally selected as the optimum design for the ultimate fighting machine. The resulting Predator was used to devastating effect in the last wave of battle which has become known as the Final Conflict. In the aftermath, the Overlords, in an ironic twist recreate parts of the earth they destroyed to serve as arenas. Here, the Predators, once used to annihilate the earth, now engage in combat for the entertainment of their creators.

CHARACTERS: Predator machines inspired by earthly insect life-forms, each is programmed to reflect the real-life characteristics and behaviour of its earthly counterpart. The player is a Predator machine battling other Predator machines in the gladiatorial arenas. Most Predators can fly. Their comparative sizes vary but all approximate to a fully grown male of the human species. All Predators are equipped with a CPU which enables two way communication between the Predator and its weapon.

PLAYING MODES: There are two inter-twined playing modes, Sequential mode and Gladiator Zone. In either mode the player chooses a Challenger identity from those Predators available. The player then engages in combat with the other available Predators. The number of available Challenger IDs and Predator opponents increases as the player advances through the game. Each Predator has different skills and strengths. When you choose a Predator for your Challenger ID you assume the skills of that Predator. So if he can fly, you can fly...... but beware, until you advance to flying level tread carefully as you're in danger of falling off the edge of the game world!

SEQUENTIAL MODE: In this mode you progress from one tier to another by defeating those Predators presented to you on each individual tier. In this mode Predator/Challenger characteristics are fixed and arenas are only available in sequential order.

HOLY TRINITY: When you start to play on Tier 1 your Challenger ID is fixed. In order to advance to another Challenger ID you have to score a Holy Trinity. You score a Holy Trinity by killing your Predator opponent three consecutive times without its killing you.

PREDATOR UNLOCK: When you defeat a Predator in sequential mode it is unlocked and becomes available in the Gladiator Zone. There you have the option to fully customize its specifications before engaging in combat.

GLADIATOR ZONE: In Gladiator Zone you can play any Predator or combination of Predators whom you have previously unlocked by defeating them in any tier of Sequential Mode. You can assume any Challenger ID of those Predators against whom you scored a Holy Trinity. You can fight any unlocked Predator in any unlocked arena. Most importantly Gladiator Zone allows you to fully customize any aspect of each unlocked Predator, creating virtually endless possibilities and combinations.

FEATURES:

FLY: The majority of predators can fly, allowing the possibility of continuous airborne battle. Considerable skill is required to engage in this form of combat. But it's fun!
CHANGE YOUR IDENTITY: Alter your Challenger ID from the most basic Predator to the most advanced as you progress through the game.
INDIVIDUALLY PROGRAMMED AI: Each character in this game behaves and fights differently.
CUSTOMIZE YOUR OPPONENTS: Building on their already unique AI, you can go further by fully customizing attributes of all Predators creating virtually endless possibilities and combinations.

By far one of the worst games I have experienced in my 40 years of game playing. --- I'm going to attempt a pros and cons list... this won't be pretty: Pros: Steam allows refunds! I love you steam. Neutral: It's single player. Kind of disappointing for a first person arena shooter, but I can't hold it against them since it's honestly marked that way in the steam store. Cons: - The game has 1 level. There's buttons to change to others but apparently they were never put in - The game pretends to have 2 modes to play, but they are actually identical, just the same arena with you versus another insect - No music during the game, cheesy repetitive sound effects (and very few of them) - Gun variety? There seems to be 4 but they are all slight variations in the SAME model with just different lights, they function and sound all mostly the same. It actually took me a while to even notice that the guns were different occasionally. - The game description says it's all about flying; but the "flight" button just makes you sort of jump and hover for a couple seconds. It's more about "jumping sort of not really that far" than it is anything resembling flight. - This is a 1 versus 1 arena…

By far one of the worst games on Steam. I got this turkey in a bundle so can't refund on it otherwise I would have. My sincere condolencies to anyone unfortunate enough to have actually bought it. Essentially It's single player only FPS arena shooter made in UDK. 1v1 against another bug using the most pathetic weapons imaginable, in a woefully featureless, poorly constructed arena. The video isn't representative of the game. There are talented and dedicated coders out there who have made UKD sing like a nightingale that just discovered it had won the Euromillions. Badcast Games isn't one of them. It takes considerable effort to make a UDK game this crap. It does EVERYTHING wrong. Gameplay, graphics, sound.... f@cking EVERYTHING. To have the brass neck to upload this onto Gamejolt would take a skin as thick as a rhino. To ask ANY money for this garbage is an affront against gamers but to ask £6.99 is nothing short of a borderline crime against humanity. Shame on you Badcast Games. At what point did you look at yourself in the mirror and say, job well done, lets put this out for commercial sale ? This should now be the new meme for p@ss poor FPS games.... I've seen some cr…

Sadly when I found this years ago I was hopeful for a good game. I wanted something different and an Insect FPS definitely seemed different and interesting. The problem though is the information of how to play is barebones at best, so when you start up and get so far into the fight to find yourself suddenly dying it’s very off putting. It seems simple of aim and shoot like you might expect of an Arena FPS, but there’s “mechanics?” that make it far from simple but not in a good way. Then when the issues were raised to the devs, especially in detail by a user by the name of Kunovega who has left a review of their own, they proceeded to leave a “Tutorial”... in the discussions section as well as argue extensively with Kunovega. I bring them up for the mere fact that they really point out just how poorly the devs were dealing with the situation and the devs more or less spoke down to them and refused to acknowledge the feedback for what it was even when others agreed. Now in the almost four years this game has been out you would think there would have been some updates and improvements of some kind. But nope, the devs have abandoned it after they took offence to all feedback an…
