This game failed for many of the same reasons those others fail. The chief of which is the developer thinking that their game will "go viral" without actually creating any reason for it do so. Competition amongst PvP centric games is extreme, and there's only a finite player base to appeal to. This game failed to reach any kind of critical mass and died as a result. Let's go into some of the reasons this particular game failed to appeal to gamers, despite the zero up front cost. The developers abandoned this 7 years and 4 months ago. It will never be completed. This unfinished game is just polluting Steam and making it harder for gamers to find genuinely, completely made games. First and foremost, there's no meaningful single player content. Krieg is a virtual reality multiplayer action game built around competitive combat, specialized characters, and unconventional movement. Rather than functioning as a traditional first-person shooter transplanted into VR, it attempts to make physical interaction and three-dimensional locomotion fundamental parts of the experience. The fantasy conflict between the King's Army and the Ancients provides the background for the battles, although story development is secondary to the competitive gameplay. The game was developed by Evan Davis, Bryce Davis, Gehrig Gosselin, and BOT Jungle Productions, with Castle Steps LLC and BOT Jungle Productions handling publishing duties. One of Krieg's more interesting qualities is its character-based approach. Five playable characters were included in its Early Access content, with each designed around distinctive abilities and methods of moving through the environment. This creates more variety than simply handing everyone different weapons. Has potential, but right now its all over the place. The controls are weird and unresponsive, pretty much to the point of being unplayable. This is probably why no one is playing it. There were no active games so me and my buddy played it together just us. After one game we decided we should probably come back in a year.... or two.
