✦ AI summary

Players praise the game's surprisingly solid and skill-driven physics-based movement system, where sliding and wall-kicking mechanics create an enjoyable speedrun-style gameplay loop despite the absurd premise. However, criticisms focus on the game's lack of polish, with technical issues like fullscreen bugs and menu errors, and some players find the repetitive nature of sliding through designed patterns unengaging after initial novelty wears off.

A lot better than first appearances would imply. The gameplay loop of kicking off walls and sliding on the floor to hit enemies and maneuver your way to the exit in record time is solid good fun.

The upcoming movie night will have The Last Samurai, so I searched for a samurai game to get into the mood and this joke game pop up. It cost almost nothing so I gave it a quick try. It’s a simple game where you control a samurai slowly crawling on the floor to move forward. If you get close to a wall and then kick it you get a boost, kind of like what you do in a swimming pool. The goal is to reach the finish line, if you stay in one spot for too long it’s game over. I played 10 minutes and didn’t find it interesting at all. it’s just about sliding around within the designed patterns. Besides, this game needs polish. I hit Alt+Enter for full screen but got nothing but a line of error word characters popped up. There were more word errors in the main menu and when switching languages. Lotion Samurai has an overall 98% positive review, I can only assume players are being ironic. Lotion Samurai is the kind of indie release that immediately signals its intentions through sheer absurdity, yet manages to turn that absurdity into a surprisingly disciplined and skill-driven experience. Developed and published by Retsu Teikoku, the game revolves around a deceptively simple premise: a samurai so thoroughly covered in lotion that conventional movement becomes impossible. What could have easily been a throwaway joke is instead transformed into the foundation of a tightly designed physics-based action game that demands precision, adaptability, and patience. The defining feature of the game is its unconventional movement system. Rather than walking or running, the player constantly slides across surfaces, using walls and environmental boundaries to redirect momentum. This creates a gameplay loop that feels closer to a puzzle-platformer fused with an action arcade title, where positioning and timing matter far more than raw reflexes alone. Early moments can feel awkward, even frustrating, as the lack of direct control forces you to rethink how movement works in a game space. However, once the mechanics begin to click, there’s a distinct sense of flow that emerges, tur…
