[h1] This is a sweet free Chinese Otome VN from the same developers who made Soulslayer. [/h1] [b]I've not delved in that much into it yet so this review will be more of a first impression for now till I read more of the game & update the review later.[/b] So far, this game seems to be more on the wholesome lighthearted side which I personally appreciate when reading this sort of VNs. Like Soulslayer, its manhua like artstyle is rather distinct with a bit of lovely edge to it. However, unlike Soulslayer, this VN sadly has no English translation so I've been translating it using DeepL & Google Lens & admittedly that has been a bit of a slog. Unfortunately, Rei patcher MTL didn't do it for me when I tried it with this game either. While this VN does have a heartwarming vibe & is somewhat engaging, I still find it nowhere as engaging as Soulslayer specially interms of the drama hook but this could also be due to the genre difference since Soulslayer is a detective VN with more of a roguelite feel to it. We play as Sima Lisu, a woman who has always believed her older cousin and senior, Wu Youwei, is supposed to be her perfect match. Things fall apart when she finds out he is getting married to someone else, which sends her off into a much stranger situation. The story is easily the main reason to play it. It has a fun and silly tone, and the main character is not treated like a completely serious romance heroine. A lot of the comedy comes from how dramatic she can be and how ridiculous some of the situations become. There is also a good amount of choice involved. We can make decisions during the story that affect the characters and which route we end up following. There are five character routes in total, including a hidden route, so there is actually a decent reason to replay the game and see how different choices change things. The voice acting is another strong point. The whole game is fully voiced, which makes the long conversations easier to get through and gives the characters more personality.
