Non-League Football Manager

I've given this game a good chance, but in its current form it is a £20 exercise in misery. It's like the developers have set out to make the player's life as miserable as possible. Want to recruit an extra scout to scout for players (to find a new star player) after you have already reduced staff costs and have loads of staff budget left? Guess what, the board won't let you recruit an extra scout (even if they are expenses only). Want to sign a player who is much better than your current squad and who is asking for less money than them, while you have loads of weekly £ playing budget left? Guess what, the board will only authorise a salary amount which is c£50 less than what the player is asking for (and this happens all the time, even when you have LOADS of player salary budget left, and the player is asking for a mid-range salary). Want to increase the player salary budget given the club is making hundreds of thousands of profit, in the hope it might address the issue above? Forget it, the board don't want to approve it. Hoping for a last minute winner? Also forget it, it almost never happens, but the computer opposition scores last minute goals all the time…

an absolute chore. i have given it 60 hours . so many flaws with transfer and loan system from season 2 onwards it takes ages to roll from one day to the next, tranfer negotiations are pointless because players stick to their initial demand until you agree or talks collapse, you take over a struggling club and win your first 8games but they sack you anyway because the clubs expected position was higher, even though it was previous managers fault , if you have 800 left in your badget and you try to sign a player who wants 400 a week the club cap you at an offer of 200 a week so you cant sign anyone at your clubs current level of ability . i got acceptred for a new job then when i clickked accept thegame said it cant process that action and left me unempoyed . if this game was free it would have been a quirky fun couple of hours but at full price this is just doomed to failure

Really enjoying the game, nice change from the bloat of the FM series

It's good fun. I find the Football Manager series a bit too deep and boring. I pored over the screens in FM24 for about 5 hours before I even got to the first match, and I gave up soon after. Non League Manager draws me in more somehow. I like the fact that I am manager of a local side, playing local teams, on pitches that I drive past in my everyday life. The decisions are still deep enough to keep my interest but without going so far as FM. I almost gained promotion in my first season, so I'm now in season 2 with a stronger team that I built in season 1, and I'm enjoying trying to get my team from level 6 all the way to the EFL. Maybe, if I ever do, I might then create my team in one of the FIFA or FM games to continue my fight to the top.

What can I say about this game? It's a fantastic and brilliant game. Over the past year I got bored of FM because and I wanted a new football manager game and this game scratches that itch really well and it even makes me feel better. The text based match engine is like going back in time of when I was at school and I love that. Being able to play my local side along with the real badge and history and that's fantastic. The game is only just came out of early access so there's a few polishing to do and some new aspects of the game to come like starting unemployed and being able to resign but that takes time. Also the main thing which I love is the game developer ethos and transparency. He's fixes the game straight away and he's always online on discord and making conversation and getting to know the players which no developers does nowadays. Also the Developer gave me the game for free when I was going through a bad spell in my life and he let me test it out for him which I really appreciate. Good game if like me you get fed up with the FM series. In depth and mods are forever updating it and using discord to relay info and answer any questions, and ideas put forward.
